Perfect Pass on a River (help quick)

We have an argument here-
On a river do you have to vary the speed setting on perfect pass to keep up with the current of the river.
Or- does the current affect the perfect pass.

We have a problem with GPS vs paddle wheel and the river registering a speed on GPS but not on paddle wheel(PW) then will the current effect the speed settings .
River current 5mph
boat speed 25
If the boat is traveling upstream will it go 20 and what will PP do to compensate?

We are smart people I swear but old school vs new school.

No, set the PP to the speed you want to go. The speed you are trying to control, is the speed of the wakeboarder relative to the water, which is axactly what the PP is controlling with the paddle wheel. If your PP is set to 22MPH your relative speed to the water is always 22MPH. Given a 5MPH current your absolute speed, which is what a GPS measures, may be 27MPH or 17MPH depending upon whether you are going upriver or downriver, both of which are irrelevant to pulling a wakeboarder.
