Stereo wiring question

I have put in Subs and tower speakers, the question is can I run the remote wire from the stereo to a set of toggle switches and then jump the toggles and run 2 seperate wires to the amps. I want to just turn off the amps instead of fading them out. Will this work?????

I did this to mine. I ran a speaker wire from the remote to a switch and back and I use it to turn off the amp when pulling up to a downed rider. Works great. It doesn't have to be heavy gauge wire, so I just used one side of the speaker wire going out and the other coming back. I actually used the regular power instead of the remote wire, and it works just fine.

Using a switch for the signal wire to the amp is the better solution. Some amps are more intelligent about how to cycle power, and you are using safe low current signal. You want to keep your high current wire length to a minimum for several reasons - safety, power loss, RF interference, distortion, convenience, cost...

he's talkin about the remote wite, not the power wire, which should be fine, and you should have no problems

I have my main power wire run from the battery to the amp in the straightest line possible and the shortest distance. I then ran a speaker wire from the main wire connection to a switch by the driver's seat and split it so each side works to carry the current each way. The return wire is connected to the remote connection on the amp. Since it is a small gauge wire, it only carries a small current from the amp to the switch and back. I have not had any problems with this at all since I hooked it up.

I have no buzz or engine noise in my system at all.
