For whatever stupid reason, I left the trailer's emergency brake cable hooked to my truck when unhitching the other day. Needless to say, I heard the noise as I pulled the truck away. Snap!

Anyone done this? I assume the trailer brakes are seized up and I need to get in there and release them. Uggh.

I did the same thing. Had someone unhook the trailer and I pulled away. My Trailer has a break release under the hitch. I just pushed it and it released the breaks.

On older trailers you have to back it up to release the brakes. We figured this out the hard way.

Did you replace the cable? Was that hard to do? Glad to know I am not the only one. :-)

I did not have to replace the cable. I just bent the hook back to shape. I used a bench vice to reshape it.
