I am just finalizing the purchase of an 81 nautique and I am currently weighing the decision of an insurance carrier. I got a quote from SkiSafe of 175/yr and Boat US of either 126/yr (for their bare minimum coverage) or 206/yr for their premium coverage. I'd rather not skimp on coverage, so I'd go with the premium coverage anyway, since it's a TINY increase in the grand scheme of things.

What details should I be looking at for coverage.. are there other options I should check out? What experience do you folks have with these or other carriers? I noticed that Erik on Wakeboard Report really loved his coverage from BoatUS...

BoatUS was the cheapest quote I got for my 2002 Sanger V210 AND they have towing, a magazine subscription and other comprehensive services that I really enjoy. My vote is for BoatUS.

how does skisafe 175/yr compare to the two policies offered by BoatUS. I just posted on this topic in an earlier thread. I have had BoatUS for years, had claims with them, and I would recommend them.

Read the other thread and the wakeworld insurance article form 2 years ago please.

Get big limits. You're 23 yrs old and dont need a judgement against you if someone gets hurt and sues you, wining higher than policy limits judgement.

Friends and neighbors become plantiffs time & again after someone gets hurt. I have heard time & again "I'm not suing you it's just your insurance company" "please understand and dont be pissed" yeah right.......... this happens even when your NOT At fault some else is..........

Don't know about BoatUS but I had Ski Safe. When I got married I switched to my wife's insurance company. My annual price is about half as much and my coverage was tripled. So yeah, add another vote for them being too expensive.
