Hey I know this is somewhat of a repeat thread from the other day, but when everyone is saying they use 75ft or so , is that actual rope length or is that from the rear of the boat.......Thanks

I was actually curious about this too. Is 70 feet of line plus the 5' handle, 70' or 75', and are all handle lengs pretty close?

Rope length is just that 'rope length'. It is measured from one end of the rope all the way down to the handle. If your like is 70' then your riding at 75'.

I always calculate the handle into the rope length so if i say I ride at 70ft I use 65ft of rope then the 5ft for the handle. Also if you use the tow hook on the back of the boat you should ride 5ft shorter than you would using a tower to make it the same.

Definable rope length. Tower positions vary for each boat. One mans 65 off the transom might be another mans 80 if its a forward swept tower mounted above the drivers head.

If someone is talking about a 75 foot rope length, and youre tied to the ski eye on the back, lessen it to 70 feet. Alternatively If your running a tower thats really far forward, you might lengthen it up to 80.
