What is the deal with SoundStream amps??? Does anyone have any feed back on them, have a buddy who is trying to unload a few TRA series.

They are in the same league as HiFonics. Built in China capitalizing on a reputation left over from the days when they were built in the USA. Check e-bay prices on similarly rated HiFonics amps, don't pay more than 75% of what that cost would be since they are used.

My $0.02

whay mikeski said.... btw, the older ones are very good sonically but due to the class a design (run hot) they are very unreliable..

Don't know if they do but just b/c an amp has fans doesn't mean it won't overheat or for that matter run hot. My amps w/o fans run cooler than mine with.

if you go with soundstream, stick to the 'van gogh' series, last series that was manufactured in the USA...I have the 1600.2 and the 500.4, probably not the most efficient in terms of physical size=power output (the 1600.2 is HUGE, not the easiest to find mounting places in a boat for it) but for the $, both are solid amps with lots of CLEAN power...
