That gimmick reminds me of the extra sail on top of the tower that was out a few years ago....Gimmicky and expensive and eventually went away. How long for this?

I know some hydrofoilers use it and like it, I don't know how well it works boarding.

Shapiro does have something to do with it, and I know wakeboarder magazine is doing a write up/ photo shoot on it.

I saw a video of shapiro using it... I would give you the address but I dont know it. IT supposedly makes you jump taller or something like that.

you know what would make riders go bigger? proper fundamentals. and it's free!
Old    schooledrider (rmcronin)      Join Date: Aug 2002       05-11-2006, 2:37 PM Reply
Learning proper fundamentals in this sport is certainly not free. Boat, gas, insurance, gear, etc, etc. The airsling is definitely not on my wish list, though.

while MOST people understand that riding isn't free, if a rider is already at the point of needing to go bigger, then all expenses have already been covered, aside from gas, maintenance, etc. thus the comment, "it's free."

but ok, i guess there are those that still need it explained to them so, aside from all other necessary expenses to ride (boat, gas, board, etc.), proper fundamentals will help in going bigger, no other expense is necessary, especially tower attachments.

yeah i agree, if your fundamentals were free then u are lacking boating fundamentals, ie: helping with gas

Yeah, but ballast tanks, towers, non-stretch ropes, cushy bindings, better designed boards, soft and wide handles, and perfect pass sure do help. Not defending this thing, but anyone who was rocking fashion airs on the skurfer behind an I/O with no weight and inconsistent speed tied to a rope at engine level knows that going bigger is much easier with technology. Ah, the good old days.

Joe,
Whats the difference between 2000lbs of wake building ballast, or a spring loaded tower attachment? 99% of boarders on here weigh their boats down so they can get more air (with good technique of course). I totally understand where you're coming from though. Often people use novelties to try and advance while overlooking the benefits of good riding fundamentals.

I'm with you Joe, too often emphasis is placed on the "I need this to go bigger" when in fact it's "why don't you learn how to do this better so you go bigger?"
