Not a bad idea except for all the bugs plastered to your bindings

My buddy has a THULE rack bolted to the tonneau of his truck. One side has a bike rack the other side a ski/snowboard rack. He puts his wakeboard in it all the time, works great.

I have used my snowboard racks when I have a fully loaded Tahoe (kids, dog, and all their gear) and the boat is already at the lake.

they have the huge boxes that go on top of your car or truck, and they hold like 4 boards.

I used snowboard racks before in the bed of my truck. Kept them from sliding around.
