I have a 500/1 Jl amp and am considering 1 12W6V2 or a 10W7. Which one would you guys think would be louder. And how would those subs be comparable to the 2 10W3V2's i have now on the 500/1. Any input or suggestions would be helpful.

12W6V2 will be slightly louder than a 10W7 with the same power. The 10W7 will be more precise. I doubt they'll be much louder than the 2 10W3V2s. You'd want to upgrade to almost 1000 watts for both the 12W6V2 or the 10W7. Stick with what you got unless you get more power.

I don't pretend to know a lot about stereos, but why doesn't anyone ever mention 'kicker solo baric' (I know I spelled that wrong!) when talking about subs? I have a closed bow SN2001 with only a 10" kicker solo beric being pushed with only a kicker 400.1 amp way up in the nose. That thing hits soooo hard. I don't even run that thing at full power because I am afraid of it messing something up in my bow with all of the vibration. Like I said before, I don't really know anything about stereos. Infact, maybe other subs would sound as good, if not better, in my boat.

well actually we are getting a new X-2 so I have to find something that will fit in that. I don't think 4 12 W7's will fit in a 20 foot boat without taking up most of the storage space. i will probably go with the W6V2 on the 500/1 but im not really sure yet. just trying to see if i can get the same output and loudness of my 2 10's with one sub. maybe i will just go with 2 W6's on a 1000/1. to many pssibilities.
Matt I might be going up to orlando in a week but not positive i was up last weekend riding at the projects. have you been riding any behind the boat or mainly just cable. talk to you later

Trading the Xstar for the X2? the X2's wake is sweet but do you just not need the extra room anymore or what?

Trevor- I agree with you I have 1 12 inch Solo 12inch L7 in my boat not even half powered and it pounds plenty hard. Now a lot of people say Solobarics are very very loud and have very poor quality, i beg to differ. I also have 2 L7 12's in my Jeep powered by an MTX 1000W mono amp. Those 2 hit harder than my buddies four fosgate 12's in his pathfinder. It all depends on how and with what you power them. JL W7' have such a clean sound, I wont deny that, but unless you just sit still in your 40k plus boat and dont ride and just bump all day theres really no way you'll be able to tell the difference in the quality of the bass thats hitting, but you will be able to tell the volume, once again depending how you run it. Sorry for how long. anyways...

Wow, I would love to see some actual data proving that Kicker subs are poor quality. I worked directly with the Kicker Competition Group for 2 years and I can say first hand that there's not a sub out there that can touch the L7s. Being loud is all about moving air, and a square speaker has 20% more cone area than a round speaker, thus it is capeable of moving 20% more air. I was hard core JL Audio until I got to work with Kicker and all I can say is that they have got their stuff together. Their vehicles don't win at world finals every year for no reason, and I'm not talking about SPL, I'm talking about the full on sound quality and everything. They go into details that would blow your mind with this stuff. But to answer your question on what sub, I'll personally be going with 1 Kicker L7 10 or 12. I haven't made up my mind yet.

i would love to see someone put that in their boat. but i think im just down to keeping my 10's or going to one 12W6v2. i will have to see what works best with the X-2.

why not upgrade to 2 10w6's? the 500/1 should push them hard enough. I have one 10w6 in a slotted ported box...it hits pretty hard with a 500/1. I'm thinking about adding another...just looking for the right spot.

Because a single 10W6V2 wants at least 500watts to it. 2ea 10W6V2s would need a 1000/1, the 500/1 is perfect for powering 2ea 10W3V2s.

i am actually considering to upgrading the 10's to 12W3V2's. The 500/1 should give them plenty of power. I was thinking about the 2 w6's on the 500/1 but i don't think it will be any different than what i have now being they will be under powered a little. i am basically deciding between 2 12 W3's or 1 12 W6. any suggestions or ideas would be helpful thanks
