You could make 150 lbs for $13 by using a 80 lb. bag of concrete in a 1o gallon storage bin.

local tire shop will usually give you buckets of their used lead tire weights for nothing... melt into blocks and then coat with epoxy and you're done. also, you can buy used tractor weights 50-100# each from a salvage yard, coat them with epoxy and place throughout boat. be careful trailering with lead displaced in the boat. extensive wear on your bunks, brakes and trailer springs...

Keep asking around at tire shops; you'll find one that will give/sell them to you for very litte. Places I talked to either gave them to me, or sold them for like $5 for a five-gallon bucket.
Melting lead isn't a whole lot of fun, though. To get nice blocks you'll have to scoop out the steel clip pieces. Or you can leave them in, but your blocks will have jagged pieces sticking out of them.

I use 4 5gallon gas cans filled with playsand. Each one is around 75lbs. They don't create tons of ballast....but are good for evening the wake out. We use a 600lb. ballast bag for most of our weight. Although we just bought a Tige so we will see if we even need much of the weight.
