Do you have a 3 blade or 4 blade prop? My buddies new boat is vibrating real bad and the service tech thought there should be a 4 blade on the boat. ???

Mine had a three. Switched to a four and only carry the three for back-up. Better hole-shot and holds speed much better.

With a 3 or 4 blade the boat shouldn't vibrate. Sangers are normally silkie smooooth. The prop or shaft must be bent.

Mike;

Your friend definately has some underlying problem. The one thing I would look at is if the prop has even a slight knick or lip to it. To check the shaft is going to be costly. labor is a killer. If it is, no matter what you hear from others stay away from having it straightened. Yes it can be done and it is cheaper but once a shaft has bent it will bend again (its just a mater of time). Look at having your prop re-pitched. Alot of the time it just takes a little cleaning up of the surfaces to make the vibration go away. If it is a "BAD" vibration and it is not noticable in the blades of the prop then check the shaft.

My SangAir came with a 4-blade. We dinged it pretty good two summers ago and it had a bad vibration as a result. I took the prop in and had it repaired and have been using the same prop ever since. It cost around $100 to repair which is a lot cheaper than a new prop would cost you.

This is a brand new boat. Service Tech ran it dry at the shop and didn't notice any Vibration. We told him to put it in the water and run it under a load. I just didn't know if Sanger hulls were know for being noisy or not?

Shouldn't be noisy, or have any type of vibration. If the prop is bent it will be smooth when run dry. The water being pushed over the bent blade is what causes the vibration, as bending a blade wont generally affect balance, unless it is very severe.

My SangAir came with a 4 blade. They definitely give you a good hole shot when the boat is loaded. Try a different prop.

Guido is right, and Sanger is not a noisy boat. If it is a bent or knicked prop then repair is the best option. You can move to a 4 blade prop but be carefull you can make a wrong choice in props very eaisly. Before buying a new prop find a shop that will let you demo what they are recomending. This way you see the performance you are getting before you spend the money.
This issue definately sounds like something that should be solved by the Dealer you purchased from.
