I have been playing around with boat speed trying to find what the best is and for my boat it seems to be around 22 mph on rough days and around 20 on smooth days. There was some trick info the other day that I read "speed up to 12 to 14 mph" I was wondering how slow they were going if that was speeding up!

I like 24. Most guys are riding between 22 and 25 I think.

I ride mostly 24 as well. Usually the bigger you are the faster you need to go.

I find that speed and rope length seem to go hand in hand. On a shorter rope I can pull at slower speeds (18-20), more rope and I need more speed (22-24). This is why I try and use a shorter rope and less boat speed for learning spinning and surface tricks. Once I have the dialed I will return to my typical rope length and boat speed.

Same hear Shanda. I had no idea how fast I was going until I went on another boat that had PP.

Thane. Faster behind the SAN? Why is that? Are you adding rope too? The SAN wake seems narrower to begin with.

You can not trust any speedometer until it has been dialed with a GPS unit. We found PP to be out by 4 MPH. With that said I usually ride at 24 MPH by GPS, which is faster than most, slower than some.

J-rod - The SAN I usually ride behind is weighted crazy and needs that much speed to get the wake clean at 80 ft. I could ride 85 I guess. I think I'm a weirdo. I ride 80 feet behind the VLX too.

Both boats have been dialed with GPS.

No set speed. I like to go at the speed where the wake just begins to crumble, then have the driver click it up one or two on the PP. Works like a champ with any boat. The more weight you have in the boat, the faster you have to go.

Depends a little on the speed but not entirely. I know at least two people heavier than me that ride at slower speeds.

I think the boat could barely get up to 45mph on that tiny OWC lake. And if you are talking about the cable it's top speed is 36mph.

sorry john...thats what people were saying at TSR. Not really sure how true it was, maybe it was only 36.

We ride a MasterCraft and both speedometers suck ass. Get stopped up all the time. Any clue how to fix that? But we use a GPS when we think it matters. Aslong as I can keep this 231lbs on top of the water Im good.

Every boat, amount of weight, rope length and your comfort level will vary the speed.

Loaded Supra Launch, 80' rope, around 23-24 mph.

based on reading everyones posting, seems like you gotta experiment btwn 21-24 mph, to find the sweet spot.
don't know about you, but it's hard to keep the speed steady, especially if you gotta follow a turn!
