There's not many ways to say all this and come off as anything other than a bragging jerk, but here goes.

35 years old
Started my first company @ 18 with $500 made as a waiter. Worked 100+ hour weeks for years (not a typo). Dropped out of full-ride college @ 19 to focus on my business and career.

Currently CEO of a performance auto parts company I started in 1999, plus have multiple passive investments (oil/gas, liquor store, stocks/options play, real estate). Owned 3 motorsports companies, the other 2 I bought, but sold them in the last few years to focus on my original motorsports company.

Boat: 2013 G23
Tow: 2011 Tundra

Others:
3 year old who's the light in my life
6 year GF, haven't made her honest yet
Live on 30 acre ranch w/ 5,000 sq. ft. garage, horses, a stocked pond, 4-wheelers track, paintball arena, etc. etc.
Lake house + dock
Multiple sports cars including Ferrari F430 (458 Italia coming soon), GT-R, and 2 Supras. Have previously owned other Ferraris, Lamborghinis (they suck BTW), Porsches, Vipers, etc.
Daily drive Westminster Rover

I put 200 engine hours a year on my boat. Average weekend cost me $400 in fuel alone. I don't give a crap about depreciation from using my toys. I can't stand $100,000 boats anchored with everyone floating and drinking. What a waste. Just like a Ferrari you put 200 miles/year on...sucker. I drive the crap out of my cars and my boat. I live life. Someone else may die with more money in the bank, but I'll die with more good memories, stories, and experiences.

There's no where I'd rather be than on the lake with my daughter, woman, Godson, and good friends. I don't care if you're in a jon boat as long as you're having fun and making memories with those that matter.

And since its "pics or lies" here's my G23 the night I picked it up from Buxton Marine:

And here's a pic of my 2010 X-Star with my F430. I don't have a pic of the F430 + G23 yet - soon!

Cheers,

Dusty

Don't make me get out the tape measure and end this whole thread Anthony Weiner style. You all have good stuff as well as I do but c'mon! I'm not listing my material goods like I'm in third grade and it's show and tell. I love seeing the boat pics but, geez people, have some constraint and class.

Throw in the shameless plug and then provide a wakeworld discount code. My wife needs some rockered powder skis.

I'm Def the most broke person on this site apparently.

30yrs Old
5 Yr GF (just got engaged this past may)
3yr old English Bulldog

Bought my boat brand new in 2006 at the boat show and finances have been bad ever since, i've always leased cars.

I work at a casino where i supervise table games while also dealing 1 or 2 nights a week, my fiance is a beverage server there.

We live in an aparment now but made an offer on a home that we should be buying/closing on this September.

She's debt free, but i actually bought a used jeep in 2010 that i will have paid off in 2.5yrs, i still owe like 20k on my boat, im about 12k in credit debt (her ring is on there)

My financial plan is buying this house we are actually going to be saving money (our apt is gross for a payment and nothing is included) by February i will be paying off all my credit card debt. So hopefully my "live beyond means" will be getting under control soon.

By no means am I trying to brag. I have been given many opportunities and have some extremely patient and understanding parents when it came to my priorities of buying things.
30 Single, no kids, no gf
Work for a local healthcare organization as a Systems Analyst (IT)
Degree in Political Science... and ended up doing IT work...
1999 Mustang (Had since high school in 99) 150k Miles
2001 Lexus IS300 (within past 2 years, craigslist find) 225k miles so nothing new
2002 F-350 Dually (Within last year, Craigslist Find, traded 05 silverado) 200k Miles
2 English Bulldogs, so those are my kids
2010 Axis A22; 442 Hours Bought new
2006 Yamaha VX110 Sport 140 hours, bought new
When I was in college my parents allowed me to live in a condo they rent out and.. i'm still there... for the winter months
After I get 2 things payed off by the end of this year, im buying their old houseboat since they bought a newer one, not brand new by any means.
1972 Stardust Cruiser 52ft. -- Been living in this since May..
I'm paying for all my toys, dock fees, car payments, gas, etc, and it catches up quick. Im not trying to sound like im bragging. Im very humble and appreciative for everything. I have worked for what I have, but I also have been spotting good deals and again, have had lots of patience from my parents of buying a new boat vs a new car or a house.
Savings, a small cushion but mostly non existent. I usually do side work in the winter to get a healthy gas cushion of money for the summer so I dont have to dip into checking or savings.

Not hating on anybody doing well, but the thread title says "boats and occupations". Not Boats, cars, trucks, house(s), kids, wives, mistresses, bikes, atvs. One of my friends tried convincing me I was a narcissist the other day go figure.

Manager at a whole/retail tire company I help start and an '87 Supreme Sierra (20ft)

With that said, Dusty your F430 is sweet! A buddy of mine had one and traded it in for an F430 challenge car... They make you understand why people buy Ferrari's!

Hey Brent! Love running into friends from the car world, happens here and there. Hope all is well man.

I'd post pics of the Sup but seems I've already upset some people by having a picture of my boat with my car. Guess I over-answered the question and now I'm a classless narcissist for sharing.

Next time I'll just answer "2013 G23 / Employed" and click Reply.

Thanks Jeremiah. F430 Challenge is a serious car. Considered one, but ultimately decided I wanted to keep the Spyder and not get yet-another track-ready car. Respect to anyone that has one, its a beautiful machine for sure.

Dusty,

When I saw 16 (I'm 25 now) I was obsessed with Toyota Supras and I always saw MVP Motorsports doing custom work on them. I'm guessing this is the same company?

Sick G23 btw!

As the OP I started this thread after a weekend on the lake in reflection drinking a beer in my garage. I don't think anyone here has been an a**hole. It's interesting yo see what all people do and have. From the guy or gal with a 30k a yr job with a great boat who makes their sacrifices elsewhere so that they CAN have that nice boat to the people who started a business it ran wild and now they've got it all. I don't think the "price of your stuff" determines who's the bigger person. I'm just an everyday average military dude with a decent ski boat (used for wakeboarding) a decent rig n house. But i guarantee everyone else out there with modest commodities are having just as much fun with their stuff as the guy with a 100k boat. Or at least they should be making the most out of it.

It's cool to see the many different backgrounds I.e. guys who have been divorced and lost what they had, people who started a business, people who sacrifice other things, people who went from rags to riches to rags again. Just goes to show you (or me) that when I see those awesome boats and trucks that I may be wrong in thinking "that person is a brain surgeon or a professional athlete" in fact this thread has shifted me towards the idea of taking over my family mechanics shop. As one of the posters said, the best way to get what you want is to work for yourself, you determine how much you'll make.

Hi Chris,

Yep, same MVP Motorsports. I still have my first Supra I got in 1998 that started it all for me. I sold my race Supra a decade ago and got out of drag racing, but we still do a lot of custom work on Supras (and many other cool cars).

Thanks for the post, its awesome to see someone who followed MVP back in our young days.

Cheers,

Dusty

I generally think those with more modest boats get more use out of them and overall live life more. I'm speaking in general of course, but I see WAY too many $100k boats floating and everyone drinking all day. Nothing wrong with partying and having a good time, but if you bought a G23 / X-Star / $100k+ boat to anchor and drink all day, every day, you have issues.

I see the people that worked their butts off for what they have tearing it up and having a blast. I can't stand a 5 year old bada$$ boat with 50 hours on it any more than I can stand a 5 year old Ferrari with 1,000 miles on it. Earn it, buy it, use it, and most importantly share the experience with others, you'll be better off for it.

Cheers,

Classless Narcissist

I find it funny that people are commenting on this thread. Think about forums and how people toot their own horn.....

**Check out my wakeboard pictures/video....toot, toot!
**Check out my sweat stereo......toot, toot!
**Check out how much I know about...well, EVERYTHING!.....toot, toot!
**Check out how cool I am.....toot, toot!

So, you guys that don't like to hear some one talk about their stuff, you might want to look in the mirror and see what you talk about on this forum. Plus, if you don't like it.....don't read it.

Maybe we should start talk about Jeeps again?

How about snowmobiles....toot, toot!

Not to mention your Supra was my Halo/unicorn car for years. In fact, now that someone else mentioned it, I feel like I read about MVP Motorsports when I was younger as well in tuner mags. Post up that one, we could care less about the Ferrari

Mine is not nearly impressive as anything else posted, but I'll play.

29, communications technian.
No boat yet, I do have a 5 year plan and saving to buy myself a decent, used inboard cash out. Use of family i/o (73 marlin customized and updated) though and friends with wakeboats to spend the summer with.
1976 f150 extended cab - tow rig
2007 Pontiac Vibe - wife's car
Wife 24, married for 5 years, stay at home mom, but is going back to school to be a teacher.
2 3/4 year son who loves the boat
2 month old daughter
Owned a modest house for the last 2 years.
Shared ownership project vehicles with my dad include a 1968 Impala convertible and a 1972 Riviera.
No other real toys except those that go bang.
Only owe about $13k on one car loan and one credit card, no other debt besides the house.
I don't want to finance anything after those are paid off and just pay cash.

As I said, it isn't the most impressive, but we're happy and live within our means. It's been a change, we used to live in nice luxury apartments in the trendy areas of town, I drove a newer BMW and basically lived beyond our means for a while. Recent dialed it back and have been much happier being more financially free. That 13k number is down from what used to be 50k+ 3 years ago.
Feels good man.

19 years old. Graduated from tech schooling while still in high school. Graduated from college with Industrial Technology degree this past semester. Work for a heating and air company. Live on a private lake as a caretaker (perfect side job for anyone on this website). No house payments, literally the only expenses I have right now are gas for my daily driver and boat once summer hits, groceries, and cable. That's about $300 per month in winter and $500-$600 per month in summer. Even lucky enough to drive a company vehicle.
1989 Mastercraft Prostar
1997 Suburban (Tow vehicle, but not really needed anymore, as my lake is in my backyard)
1997 Ranger (Daily driver)
All paid for

I work for Apollo doing service work. Got into the union right after high school and worked for JCI all through the apprenticeship, then moved on to greener pastures. We take the boat out of Chinook 90% of the time and are in the slough, if your ever out there feel free to swing by and say hi. We had a 04 xstar that was bright yellow if you've ever spent time out there you've probably seen us. Thanks for the compliments on the boat as well, we love it.

As I'm only 15 I do not own my own boat/car...so I'll just talk about my family.

My dad works in pharmaceuticals for Johnson and Johnson as a biostatistician and I believe also works with pharmeco-epidemiology.

My mom is a professor.

Last year we got a 2008 Malibu Wakesetter 247 rx and my parents are currently trying to sell a 2010 Tahoe Q4-sf.

We live in the off season in a suburb with a 4200ish sqft home and in the summer we live in our little 1500 sqft place on keuka lake (even though it is a little tight for the four of us we find it much cozier and really enjoy staying there).

I, personally, saved up my money and recently got a used Kawasaki stand up jetski (which I have a blast on) and a Ez-go txt which I use to tow it around.

My dad drives a 2012 honda accord, my mom drives a 2011 mercedes ml350, and my brother who is in college drives a 2009 saab 9-3, but I will be driving that soon as he does no need it in college

What do you plan to go to college for. I know a lot of people say major in something you love.....but be realistic, do something you like that makes money. Social work does not make money.

I'm interested possibly majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in business, or vise versa. And yes I totally agree that a balance between what makes money and what you are interested in is great. I am really interested in Cornell or RIT...does anyone here have any experience with either of these schools?

Most of us are too stupid to be a doctor. There is only one doctor wakeboarder I know of. He is Justin Jenkins. He is damn good too.

Not true, my wife is a doctor as well. While she's certainly no pro or even going wake to wake yet, she definitely likes to get out on the wakeboard from time to time.

I posted earlier and mentioned how I bought a ez-go golf cart and a kawasaki stand up ski last year, and I found a pic of my little set up so I thought I would post it.

I got bored one day and built the trailer out of some scrap wood, old bunks, and wagon wheels...it surprisingly works great!

I'll try to get some posted up since we're probably going to get the boat ready to go out for the first time this year when I get home from working offshore. We've both been itching to get some ride time in and this winter in TX has been brutal, so we're probably going to suck it up and start riding at the end of March/first part of April.

Suck it up butter-cup; the ice will probably be 2' thick still up here in Manitoba. It has been a brutal winter - -30*C this morning.

Back to thread: Airline Pilot. 23V Epic - tough life for a schedule to find a second or a third! Seems I always work when everyone else is playing!

Lol, I know, it could be worse, but Texas has had some crazy weather this year too making it tough to man up and get out there. It was close to 80 and I was out riding my motorcycle in a t-shirt about a week ago, now it's in the 20s and sleeting...Every time we think the spring is about here, we get hammered with another wave of crazy winter weather.

I'm digging the Epic, those graphics are sexy. And I feel you on the schedule thing, I work offshore 14 on/14 off, and my wife is a Veterinarian who works a similar schedule to mine so she can be off when I'm home, and all our friends have regular 9-5s. Makes it tough sometimes....

I posted earlier in this thread. However ill post again. 22 and still a signalman on the railroad. Just bought into the Little Caesars franchise and will be opening one in a college town here close to home. Also working on a patent on an app I came up with. I'm kinda hoping apple will jump all over it. I'm not one to take financial chances but everyone I talked to said to trademark the idea ASAP. So we'll see what happens!

Thanks Tyler and Bison. You are welcome any time. I can't wait for it to warm up! I hate to whine about the winter because I know there are a lot of riders with much shorter seasons, but we normally start riding about now. It was 20 here today with a wind chill of 10!

Apparently Toddwake has never been in G series boat.... The G's not a good boat....smh that's kinda funny because it has revolutionized the industry standard. And Nautiques make the best quality boat on the market today. We have the awards to prove it and the customers to back us up as top in the industry.
