Hey guys I just dropped my boat off to get the stereo done. I'm trying to decide on an enclosure for the drivers side. I'd like to do a plexi front and have the inside mirrored. Or something cool like that. I'm open to doing a kick panel. I just don't want a plain looking wall at my feet. So David/ any of the acme or Chucktronics guys or any of you guys with subs at your drivers feet care to share pics of your enclosures it would be appreciated. I figured the guys at acme or earmark or Chucktronics would have pics of customer installs. Any help is wonderful! Thanks!

Grant- if you're going to post Harold's boat at least give credit to the installer...

Here's a shot of mine from Chucktronics, sorry no plexi or mirrored bling, just pure hard hitting sound.

Gunner what will be even funnier Is Ben trying to post a picture of "subs at a drivers feet " all while some how slipping in his company logo into the shot For some advertising!
Dammit There I go again. And Dave's not gonna post any pictures because we all know subs at the driver feet equal diminishing returns!

Now Grant there's no reason to be jealous of Ben's creative use of advertising or David's extensive, over your head, vocabulary.

That pic makes me jealous I should have 2 13w7s in identical ported boxes by this weekend so I'm halfway to your level

Has anyone tried different types of enclosures in that area and/or subs facing in different directions? When I built mine, I found that is sounded best firing towards the front if the boat instead of out/back like most. It seamed like it needs to reflect off something to create a decent sound in a sealed or ported box. It definately looks best firing towards the back but how have people got the best sound/bass?

I had to make room. Trust me that thing is shoe horned in there. It's a MF'er to get out if I need to.

Does create better sound to point the sub towards the boat instead of out? Makes sense

Question per Chris,
"Does create better sound to point the sub towards the boat instead of out? Makes sense."

It can make a small difference.
Direct radiating will have a little better midbass attack and transients. Side-firing will be more robust on the heavy bass. Slight differences with slight advantages and slight trade-offs.
If you want to use a plex front and put the woofer on display, side-firing certainly gives you a larger window.

When I built the trim panel on mine, I did build it with the shelf just above the enclosure to use as a foot rest. It works really well towards the end of the day to be able to relax and prop my feet up while driving.

Pete,
In the two underdash plex sub enclosure pics that I posted, the enclosures and facade are elevated off the sole so that your feet slide under the enclosure for more leg room.

Dave, the box with the two polk momo's. Is that mounted into the bottom of the hull? The box looks awesome, anymore pics of it?

Daniel,
That particular enclosure is down-firing so the enclosure was elevated off the sole as much as was possible, but certainly limited. To be honest, it didn't sound as good as it could....but it was what the boat owner wanted as a show piece. Down-firing with inadequate elevation plus downfiring into a vented compartment. Two acoustical strikes against it. The entire floor certainly shook under your feet and it was very tactile but musically it left something to be desired.

Thank you Daniel.
I whittled the whole thing out of a solid chunk of billet and a chunk of acrylic with my buck knife.

My existing sub under the helm. Spec'd ported box stuffed in there. Adding a box to the walkway and it'll all b trimmed out and act as a huge bow cushion.

Nothing fancy tho.
