I honestly don't understand what people like about Mitt.
Without saying anything about the current administration, what is good about Romney?
The he's not Obama argument, isn't good enough for me, my 5 year old isn't Obama, she still shouldn't be president.
Old    Ron (Nordicron)      Join Date: Aug 2011       10-29-2012, 2:11 PM Reply
Your right your 5yr old shouldn't be President and neither should Obama have been elected.... Although they both have close to the same experience.

Hope and change blah!

Ron, you missed my point. This isn't supposed to be a "tell me what you don't like about OBAMA" thread, its a "tell me what you do like about Mitt" thread.

He has the resume of someone that I believe could turn our national debt in the opposite direction. He has a long history of giving service for the benefit of others and I believe that is really why he wants to be president.

If the he's not Obama argument isn't good enough for you then why was that one of the key points his campaign used four years ago when relating McCain to Bush. It's all political tactics and why shouldn't that argument be enough. There are only two candidates. If you don't like Obama and what his administration has done and what they are planning to do then what other option do you have? The independents? Haha ok. Both candidates usually go extreme right or left to get their party nomination and then take a 180 to the center to get the rest of the nation behind them no matter what they are actually going to do while in office. The media will spin things whichever way they want to get their story sold and that's all they usually care about. It's a big "I told ya so" moment for the nation every four years and what does it actually prove, either the nation likes the way things are going or they don't. Either way people vote eventually you will be disappointed somewhere down the road.

So to answer your question I am all about people paving their own way and the government not sharing the wealth. I'm not a wealthy person nor will I ever be but I believe that what I have worked for is mine and I have a problem with over the top handouts to those who abuse the system for those that actually need it.

He's a businessman. Business creates jobs, not government. He wants people to work and pay taxes, not get government assistance.

He's for smaller government. Remember the old sarcastic adage: "We're the government, we're here to help." Of course, nothing could be further from the truth when you're trying to get things done.

He supports the military. You do not cut costs in military; especially when you have emerging threats.

He is for utilizing our "hometown" energy. While I agree that green power should be continually considered and nurtured, you do not go green at the cost of jobs and higher energy costs when the economy is in the dumper. Coal is an important commodity and a valuable source of inexpensive electricity. He is also pro-nuke. Aside from hydro, nuclear is one of the cleanest energy sources ever discovered.

He wants the states to create a viable healthcare environment. A business can move to a different state, which is still pro US. However, if it is national, then the business will leave the country to avoid such a plan.

It is difficult to state why you like one without stating what you dislike about the other.

I like Mitt, because he's cool. He hangs out w/Jay-Z and Beyonce. He's always having cool parties with tons of a-list Hollywood celebrities and stuff. He even has elementary school kids singing songs about him. I can't wait until he's elected. I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car no more. He gon' take care of me.

They like him because he has an R following his name. In any other state (besides MA) Romney would be a liberal democrat. He sold out to win over conservatives, but you can see him creeping back towards the left. My main beef with Romney is that a-hole strapped his dog to the roof of his car and drove across Canada. Otherwise, he hasn't fooled me. If he wins, we still have a moderate in the WH and the Teabaggers and the conservative party still take a huge step backwards.

So Romney has been lying and flopping a lot, but this one is pretty awful. Jeep is doing so well that they, like Ford is already doing, is considering expanding and building more Jeeps in China to SELL IN CHINA. Romney falsely claimed that they are doing so badly they are planning to move all their production to China. Ridiculous. Even after his mistake was pointed out, the campaign doubled down and actually released an ad repeating the patently false claim. http://www.dailyfinance.com/2012/10/...rong-false-gm/

Romney, probably referencing this Bloomberg article, said that he “ saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state, Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China.” The Detroit Free Press and Obama campaign are in full spin mode to show that Romney lied about the Jeep move when actually.. Romney was right.

According the Bloomberg, heads of both Chrysler and Fiat said that they have “plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country.” That sounds like Fiat is seriously considering moving ALL Jeep production to China at some point. http://www.conservativedailynews.com...scare-ohioans/

I love how you guys keep trying to say Romney misrepresents stuff and flip flops but isn't your boy obama trying to play the gay marriage card late in the game when he has not done anything to date? He is doing the same crap as you accuse Romney of doing. Didn't Harry Reid pull some stunt a short while ago where he said he heard Romney did something and when pressed about the truth, they said it was true he heard it? Don't play like one person is doing this. Then we can pull in all you guys previous posts about Bush letting 911 happen on purpose or he did nothing while the country was under attack and how he hated black people because he supposedly did nothing after Katrina. All I have to say is just don't. your track record is horrible.

I like how Mitt is going to get us in another war because that will jump start the economy! And abortion is WRONG! It says so in the bible, Mitt is going to end abortion in this country, cut taxes by 20%, bring down the National debt, and add 20 million jobs(probably by lowering the minimum wage), who wouldn't like this guy?

So in your humble opinion, isn't Romney supposed to be better than Obama, aren't the Republicans supposed to be better than the Democrats? Your argument sounds like the high school students I teach; "Well, so-and-so did it, so it is okay for me to do it". Or "that black car was speeding, how come you pulled me over?" It is a childish argument that I expect from G, not you.

Frank-Dodd could disappear along with [un]Affordable Health Care, and with the price of natural gas rising, allowing affordable coal as an option to generate with would be nice. Hopefully, those propsoed UN taxes would go away.

This doesn't make it acceptable. This was in the 80's, before we had nice luggage racks and comfortable pet carriers. Have you ever seen National Lampoon's Vacation when all of the luggage falls off the top of the car? You don't think that was a possibility even with Romney's ingenuity? Besides, you just don't strap the family pet to the top of your car for 12 hours. It's just wrong.

people dont "like" Romney. People dont "like" any politician. Just think about why any politician tries to get a job in politics. Whats the advantage of doing so? Whats the real personal motivation?

Why do people who actually work and create necessities for a living vote one way, and those whose work value is somewhat subjective vote another?

A president cant do anything he campaigns to do. He doesnt have that kind of power. Thats all talk to get the populous excited. It doesnt really matter who is elected as far as actual change goes. Bush couldnt make the changes he wanted to make. Obama couldnt make changes he wanted to make.

Bottom line is the country runs on a mix of capitalism and socialism. All your vote really does is slightly effect the climate from the top. Thats doesnt mean reelecting a socialist is going to spiral the nation into irreversable communism, nor is electing a businessman going to destroy the welfare state.

Bottom line is, today you either believe we are long\short on capitalism or long\short on socialism. You have the opportunity to ever so slightly tip the scale based on your belief. Thats it. Its not a big difference and it doesnt equal hope and change. its a slight tip to slowly get the ball rolling in the direction you believe the country needs for today. People dont "like" Romney or Obama. If you think the economy is the biggest concern today, then you probably want a more capitalistic atmosphere in DC. If you think american humanitarian efforts are the biggest concern, then you probably want a more socialist approach.

Thats all your vote gets you. You dont have to "like" either of them to generically change the passive climate.

Jo,

You OK with Iran having a nuclear weapon? Obama certainly has done very little to stop it. The next point is where math and economics needs to kick in. With the world getting closer and the currency getting more and more tied together, American wages have no choice but to drop or stagnate until America become competitive. That is the simple truth like it or not. No president can change that. Then with more car manufacturers moving production to the country they want to do business with, the chance of capturing revenue locally here in the states is less and less.

What's really funny is that Romney had a family dog because he and the family wanted one. Obama got their first (betting) dog to "better connect" with the public.

And you know this how???

And Romney ended up giving that beloved "family dog" to his sister in California. Does that honestly show "he and the family wanted one"?

Yes it is. You attempt to exonerate Republicans by saying that Democrats did it first so it is now okay. So you can argue it all you want, I am simply calling a spade a spade.

I guess so. It made you invent some new internet lingo. What exactly does "LOI" mean? I didn't know it was so billy badass to be cruel to animals. Michael Vick must be some sort of hero to you. You're so cool Paul, all the kids want to be just like you. "Oh look, there's Paul. He's so awesome. He gets a chubby every time someone mistreats their dog. Then he has the snappiest comebacks. 'Pull out your PETA card', isn't that so cool?" "Yeah, one time a dog crapped in Paul's petunias and he kicked the crap out of it. It was so choice."

The fact of the matter is that NEITHER Obama NOR Romney is good for this country. Both believe in man made global warming, they both agree about the NDAA. Romney said bailing out the auto industry was his idea. the list goes on all day Ive got 30+ points about their similarities The pattern of the Jokers continues, from George W. to Obama to Romney if he's elected. but we are led to believe that the only way to go is to vote within the two party system DEMS or REPS, they don't want you thinkin outside the box for Libertarian or Cnstituttional or Independent. but people STILL go for one or the other, we the people need to start letting these idiots know that we don't need to be told that the two party way is the only way to go. Gary Johnson is my TRUE choice. but unfortunately I'll have to vote Rommie-boy just to keep a split vote from occuring and Obama winning by default.

the two party system will always prevail - That is all you have to say. The alternative parties will never be elected to office (unless there is a revolution) but can only hope to influence the election and voters in a positive way. Actually voting for one of the alternatives (IMHO) is a wasted vote because a loss of a vote to a candidate that more closely resembles the voters beliefs/desires can elect the opposite. I have seen it in the city where I work. In this case, the alternative was paid to run to dilute the competitions voter base. And it worked.

Which you also indicated Brian.

I don't agree with this mentality. I mean I see what you're saying, but I don't agree with your principle. I live in TN, Romney is for certain going to win the state, but I am still not voting for Romney. And even though the candidate I vote for doesn't have a chance of winning the state, that doesn't make me feel that I "wasted my vote". I know I have been labeled a Liberal, Obama-lover, etc., but I have voted for GOP and third party candidates. I think a person should vote for who they feel is the best candidate and simply vote for someone else because they feel their vote is wasted. So if that means voting for Gary Johnson, I think you should vote for him and be proud that you voted for the candidate you believe would be the best for the country.

Wes when in America did donating to your church no longer constitute as charity? I got into a long discussion about this the other day and it blew my mind. I was told that since my donation comes with "strings attached" real or implied that my gift was not charitable. I struggle to imagine taxes as charity.

To oversimplify my position:
Obama is left-wing parading as a moderate and Romney is a moderate parading as a right-wing. I am a moderate. Discounting the nonsense they both say on the campaign trail, my beliefs are more in line with Romney's historical actions.

I agree with you - believe it or not. You, since you live in a state where Romney is most likely to win, should vote the way you want (Obama)- not to be the same (succumb to Romney) and you should definitely not stay home and not vote.

However what if you lived in a state where the vote was close? I realize and understand the point of a voter believing in a candidate with all of their heart. However, what if one of the leaders represented something that you despised and the other was someone who you were just okay with? If you knew it was close and your vote did count, why would you "waste" your vote and vote third party just out of bullheadedness or principal? Principal is all well and good but what if you ended up with someone that had policies which you despised? Could you really tell everyone that you voted for your third party person and feel good about it? I mean, what if you were black and the white supremacist sympathizer won? Poor analogy, but it could happen.

Yes because they BOTH have many of the same money buddies, They BOTH have outsourced jobs: Obama with the Chevy bailout, Romney with Bain Capital, so really WHICH one is actually BETTER? neither one is and that's the real problem. it'll just be more of the same they say the SAME thing just at different times or in different ways. It's the lesser of two evils choice again.

And that's the way it's been run for at least the last 50 or so years, just the way the banksters that really run the country want it. No REAL choice for the people; just lettin' us think we ACTUALLY have one when we really don't, and THAT is what we as the voters should demand change for.

Watch, if Romney gets elected, things will coast for the first year, lookin' like things're doin' fine, like a recovery might actually occur; then he'll slam the throttle down full tilt again.

If Obama gets reelected, he'll slam the throttle down and tear the break off as this country goes down the tubes.

We're at defon 3 folks.

John Anderson- and THAT'S what I'm talkin' about, we as the voters need to demand that our voices TRULY be heard rather than allow this to continue, only then can we try and effect ANY kind of change in the voting system. (about the Infowars picture, I liked it because it shows what kinda trend we've been seeing just within the last 20 yrs, I only wish it had Clinton and George the first in there too, because of their contributions to the way things are now).

akadirtbikingdad- you've seen this for yourself and know what the "fix" is that is employed by those who want their buddies to win, "vote for one or the other" that's what we're told, "if you vote for anyone else it'll cause a split vote. and the incumbent (this case Obama) will win by default." so that's why they tell us this stuff, just so they can string their next puppet and keep things rollin' just to make us think we're actually gettin' somewhere, but in reality, we've gone nowhere.

Jeremy- believe me I'd LOVE to vote my conscience/convictions and be proud to have done so, but the problem still remains that if I do, it'll contribute to the possibility of a split vote, what's really needed is a playoff style head to head between the 3rd party groups, then finally with the REP or DEM party nominee, and finally to face the incument or if the incumbent's 2 term limit is up the pick between the Dems nominee, the Reps Nominee and the 3rd party winner to finally come down to the two final choices. but the media still blurs out the 3rd party groups to keep them from ACTUALLY getting their message through to the rest of the country (that's why you hardly saw anything of the 3rd party candidates debates unless you knew where to look, the lame ass media wouldn't cover it.). it's maddening I know, but it's the reality of it all right now.

So until we all as the voting-age population get pissed of enough and DEMAND this ability to allow the 3rd party groups acceptance (the GOP even tried to sue to keep 3rd parties off the ballot this year so go figure), things will remain the way they are now, so like I said, even though Rommy-boy is no better, getting Obama outta office right now is priority one on my list, but I have a gut feelin' we're just gonna see more of the same, just a different mask on on the puppet.

the pattern remains the same: anyone but Bush- Anyone but Clinton -anyone but Bush (George W) - Anyone but Obama and so on, and so on.

BOHICA- just sayin'.

Okay, you say that all of those clips were taken out of context, as to imply they are not true. Your second sentence suggests to turn a blind eye to Romney "changing his mind" in the clips that you say were not true in the first place.

plhorn...I do understand your question. But that being said I cant answer without bringing up the current administration. Becasue they are the sole reason I am voting for Romney. Not because of anything Romney said he will do ,has done or maybe accomplish when he is elected. Obama has run this country into the ground giving him 4 more years would be a crime against humanity IMPO. I dont even see how anyone can call themsleves an American and vote for Obama. So is Romney the answer? I dont know. Only time will tell. But I DO KNOW this Obama is NOT the answer!!!! Therefore Romney/ Ryan 2012.

LOL, you must be 4 years old. Because before Obama took charge we gave the Republican administration 8 years to take this country from a surplus to the deepest recession since the great depression, and an unprecedented increase in deficit spending since the likes of Reagan, another Republican credit card abuser. Seeing as how the basic premise of your argument is that the current President is primarily responsible for the state of the nation, I contend that the Democrats have earned 8 years to undo the damage of the previous Republican administration.

Now cue all the arguments that no matter who has the White House it's still the Democrats fault.

They ALL had a part in it, so why don't we all concentrate on how to FIX the problem, instead of bitching about whose fault it was? Surprisingly, since Obama, Peloski, and Reid have taken charge, I have learned a lot about socialism. I copied this from another post, ""Came across the Cloward–Piven strategy recently which is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward (1926–2001) and Frances Fox Piven (b. 1932) that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with a national system of "a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty". Interesting strategy to bring about a more socialist America. It is happening right now as 47 million Americans are now on the welfare rolls. This is an example of what your vote for Obama is getting you. Americans need to awaken from our slumber."

It would be great if Americans could awaken from their slumber. Unfortunately the amnesiac stricken belief that we need to give the White House back to the Republicans to fix the nation is the opposite of an awakening.

If you want to step back from your politically driven delusion then you will see that our blindness to the real issues is what we need an awakening from. Creating a faux monster out of Obama might placate your fear but it isn't progress.

What a f ing stupid cut and paste. God fing d@@M. Nearly every thing you cut and pasted cost Americans jobs with no real return but to export jobs in the name of the environment. Not a freaking thing has changed in the "environment" except our money leaving. Sign a note saying for congress to repeal don't ask don't tell? Troops at risk? Really? If you are gay and too fing stupid to realize a bunch of Marines don't want you acting like a girl in the barracks is at risk, then I have no hope for you. Being gay is one thing but going all gay pride parade in the barracks is another. Trust me. The military is doing just fine. No one cares about your preference in a barracks full of men. Just do your damn job!!!!! That is all anyone wants. Beyond that, no one gives a crap.

I see a few of keeping President Bush's policies they are claiming. Good job.

This proves exactly why America needs to move away from this piece of crap on the double. Your little cut and paste forgot a nice big one. HE GAVE IRAN THE BOMB!!!!!

Here is another thought and direction--how about the Fed? Back in 1999, when the economy was rolling, Greenspan gave a speech and said that America had too many jobs and not enough workers, so the Fed started raising interest rates to slow the economy (after keeping rates too low for too long) and they did an excellent job--so well in fact that we now have too many workers and not enough labor jobs. Now they have slashed rates and are pumping in at least 50 billion dollars a month and still are producing no job growth. One day, when the economy picks back up and hyperinflation returns, interest rates will probably go back up once again limiting--probably killing--growth. Maybe if the Fed. had less role in regulating the economy, we'd be better off. IMHO, the US was in much better shape in the 50's when people were required by to pay at least 20% down on a house, banks were not forced to give loans to people with sketchy credit, had not ever heard of a credit card, and we had a strong dollar. And what I don't understand is that voters actually believe that another bureaucracy will be able to make health care affordable.

@Ron T of course the collapse of the housing market contributed to the crash. The loosening of the requirements to buy a house started with Carter and got progressively looser. But there were several conservatives in office since who could have changed the requirements back. We need elected officials who are willing to do the right thing and make the cuts we need.
