That's typical Government Management skills at work. The Government can take a 100.00 investment and turn it into a 500.00 debt in a matter of minutes. It takes years of practice to become that efficient.

The public sector "green" movement is largely a wealth reduction scheme -- a way to burn greenbacks faster.

Lol Dr. Flynn must have been the guy providing Limbaugh all his illegal pain killers. It's funny because you used to have to be able to do math to get an MD... AF1 costs $181,757 per flight hour.

As of August of this year, President Obama had taken 61 days of vacation, a number that paled in comparison, at the same point in their presidencies, with George W. Bush’s 180 days at his ranch, and Ronald Reagan’s 112 days at his. The Daily Kos estimated George W. Bush’s Crawford ranch trips to cost taxpayers about $226,000 a trip in flight costs alone . . . so do the math. At the very, very least, the pricetag for Bush’s vacations to Crawford cost us $17,407,544 - and that’s before factoring in the costs of security detail, press corps, staff and the like.

Any time they are throwing around millions it has to do with the estimated expenses of AF1, which W used at a ratio of 3:1 compared to Obama. Let me know if you need help with understanding what 3:1 means.

Maybe you think the first family should hop on a coach flight back to Hawaii and catch a cab. The fact that you are quoting and posting the National Enquirer pretty much says it all.

Been offline the past week or so. I initially took the Obama bait of the Rose Garden speech. I looked at the transcript today and his referenced use of "terror" is thin, damn thin.

This is your big source. Classic. The ABC article is talking about a dress that she bought with her own money. Sigh. If the only thing you have to complain about is the use of AF1 (which is, again, considerably less than that of predecessors) then the Obama hate really is getting desperate. It's funny because there are actually legitimate gripes to be had about Obama, but those go completely ignored.

Unfortunately, security is expensive when politicians travel. Ironically, the First Lady claims that trip was for business and costs just under $500,000. http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/was...re-than-432142 The trips to Hawaii were a bit more. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/1...n_1158825.html IMHO, calling the Libya incident a terror incident is becoming a bit like the ol' ""Joe the Plumber"" routine and a little on the "tired"side. Hopefully, Romney will make a good showing tonight.

To All My Valued Employees,

As most of you know our company, Westgate Resorts, has continued to succeed in spite of a very dismal economy. There is no question that the economy has changed for the worse and we have not seen any improvement over the past four years. In spite of all of the challenges we have faced, the good news is this: The economy doesn't currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration. Of course, as your employer, I can't tell you whom to vote for, and I certainly wouldn't interfere with your right to vote for whomever you choose. In fact, I encourage you to vote for whomever you think will serve your interests the best.

However, let me share a few facts that might help you decide what is in your best interest. The current administration and members of the press have perpetuated an environment that casts employers against employees. They want you to believe that we live in a class system where the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. They label us the "1%" and imply that we are somehow immune to the challenges that face our country. This could not be further from the truth. Sure, you may have heard about the big home that I'm building. I'm sure many people think that I live a privileged life. However, what you don't see or hear is the true story behind any success that I have achieved.

I started this company over 42 years ago. At that time, I lived in a very modest home. I converted my garage into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you. We didn't eat in fancy restaurants or take expensive vacations because every dollar I made went back into this company. I drove an old used car, and often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. Meanwhile, many of my friends got regular jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a nice income, and they spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into this business -with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford to buy whatever I wanted. Even to this day, every dime I earn goes back into this company. Over the past four years I have had to stop building my dream house, cut back on all of my expenses, and take my kids out of private schools simply to keep this company strong and to keep you employed.

Just think about this most of you arrive at work in the morning and leave that afternoon and the rest of your time is yours to do as you please. But not me- there is no "off" button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have that freedom. I eat, live, and breathe this company every minute of the day, every day of the week. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. I know many of you work hard and do a great job, but I'm the one who has to sign every check, pay every expense, and make sure that this company continues to succeed. Unfortunately, what most people see is the nice house and the lavish lifestyle. What the press certainly does not want you to see, is the true story of the hard work and sacrifices I've made.

Now, the economy is falling apart and people like me who made all the right decisions and invested in themselves are being forced to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed 42 years of my life for. Yes, business ownership has its benefits, but the price I've paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the costs of running a business have gotten out of control, and let me tell you why: We are being taxed to death and the government thinks we don't pay enough. We pay state taxes, federal taxes, property taxes, sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, workers compensation taxes and unemployment taxes. I even have to hire an entire department to manage all these taxes. The question I have is this: Who is really stimulating the economy? Is it the Government that wants to take money from those who have earned it and give it to those who have not, or is it people like me who built a company out of his garage and directly employs over 7000 people and hosts over 3 million people per year with a great vacation?

Obviously, our present government believes that taking my money is the right economic stimulus for this country. The fact is, if I deducted 50 percent of your paycheck you'd quit and you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? Who wants to get rewarded only 50 percent of their hard work? Well, that's what happens to me.

Here is what most people don't understand and the press and our Government has chosen to ignore to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Instead of raising my taxes and depositing that money into the Washington black-hole, let me spend it on growing the company, hire more employees, and generate substantial economic growth. My employees will enjoy the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But that is not what our current Government wants you to believe. They want you to believe that it somehow makes sense to take more from those who create wealth and give it to those who do not, and somehow our economy will improve. They don't want you to know that the "1%", as they like to label us, pay more than 31% of all the taxes in this country. Thomas Jefferson, the author of our great Constitution, once said, "democracy" will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

Business is at the heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate business, not kill it. However, the power brokers in Washington believe redistributing wealth is the essential driver of the American economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change they want.

So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company. Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone.

So, when you make your decision to vote, ask yourself, which candidate understands the economics of business ownership and who doesn't? Whose policies will endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know who might be the one capable of protecting and saving your job. While the media wants to tell you to believe the "1 percenters" are bad, I'm telling you they are not. They create most of the jobs. If you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the "1%"; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country.

You see, I can no longer support a system that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, so will your opportunities. If that happens, you can find me in the Caribbean sitting on the beach, under a palm tree, retired, and with no employees to worry about.

Signed, your boss,

David Siegel

I googled it Looks like Obamanos is the Spanish translation for Obama. It's good to know even though you cant say his name you can still vote for him. Via La Obama! In the last debate, I heard Obama say something like this: Leave the lower paying and lower tech jobs to the folks overseas. As a worker and a taxpayer, I find that offensive. Why? Because we have a group of people who need work, do not have any training, do not plan to get any and are now leeching from society. So, based on what Obama said, we should give away jobs so the uneducated or unwilling to learn can just sit on the couch? Or more importantly provide a decent ENTRY LEVEL job?? That's something that hit me the other night on the way home from WORK. People, who live in a country like this, deserve health insurance. Right? Only some get better insurance because they work for a great company. The problem is that many do not want to go to work, and perhaps take a pay cut, to move from a temp or part time position to get in on the ground floor at a good company with good benefits.

I'll never forget (a long time ago) when I went from $7 to $4 and some change to go to work for a company (my current employer) so I would have vacation, health insurance, retirement and tuition reimbursement!

John, I have read many of your posts; and like Cliff, I do not see why Romney is not your choice.

Romney isn't my choice because I haven't heard him say anything that makes sense. The bottom line is that when Obama took office the deficit spending was hugely increased, the stock market had crashed, and the rate of increase of unemployment was high. There is no way a incoming President is going to radically cut spending under those circumstances. Republicans have IMO characterized the results during Obama's term. In his term growth of spending increase was low, leveled the decrease in unemployment and reversed the trend, and the stock market has made large gains. Anyone with retirement savings has to admit they are better off now than 4 years ago.

With that said I'm not claiming that Obama single handedly did this. What Obama did not do is a lot of damage, and he put health care on the front lines. No President before him has been able to address healthcare, one of the most serious issues in our nation. I would not reward the GOP for trying to make issues with bizarre lies and obstinately brick walling progress to get the White House back.

There is no way that Romney is going to lower unemployment unless he simply stays the course set by the Obama administration. I will admit it could be argued that this course was established at the 12th hour of the Bush admin. After serious economic problems reality set in and it was recognized that massive govt spending and monetary expansion was necessary to stop the decline. Romney is promising to balance the budget on the backs of the avg man. Not only will he fail, but if he really does what he says it's going to be a disaster.

BTW, Seigel wrote essentially the same letter to his employees in 2008. The guy is a timeshare baron. The more people not in that business the better.

Far from a doomsdayer just a an American that's tired of the Government trying to steal from me through taxes. My honest opinion is that it doesn't matter who is in office they all suck. Out of the 2 idiots we have running Romney is better for my business and my family.

Jeremy: you’re just a dick. And anyone who go’s against your logic is labeled as Stupid!
No one doubts we need teachers. But I don’t agree with your Messiah Obama saying that Teachers are the way to economic paradise. The economy of this county needs a shot in the Arm. Are teachers going to do this right away? Maybe In 5 to 10 years. Obama say’s Companies are going to RE LOCATE here in the US if we have a highly educated people that companies can pick from! That sounds great. Is that why companies are mass producing and out sourcing to china because they have a smarter Work Force!

The mentality of driving the dollar down so we can export more and keeping interest rates at historic lows are the policies that concern me the most about our current administration, in addition to selling guns to criminals.

Teachers aren't really to blame it's the system., but like the old saying goes... Those that can't do, teach.

I wish I could go back and kick my algebra teacher in the nuts, I haven't used algebra once in real life and I run a successful business. This really isn't about teachers but a difference of people who are on the Gov dime. I think if you work for any form of Gov your judgment is skewed. It's a simple conflict of interest, of course you want business owners and high net worth individuals taxed more so you can have job security... I just don't agree with that, because I can do, so I don't have to teach, or work for the DMV, or Cal Trans, or any Gov agency.

OK Riley, we get it. You make over $200K a year and it's reasonable to believe that Romney will benefit you. Wouldn't it be easier to just say that? Because most people don't make that much so your motives don't apply. My 90 year old mom has a lot of money in investments so Romney's idea of zero tax on investment earning is very appealing to her. No need to us to disagree because her logic makes sense to both of us.

Advancing a bunch of tin foil hat reasons only makes you look stupid when it's much more straight forward to say that which is already undisputed. That Romney will advocate low taxes on high earners/investors, and try to extract more from the middle class workers and poor.

Romney would likely benefit me financially too, at least in the short term. But as many issues as I have with Obama, the idea of letting Romney install two Supreme Court justices and tank the economy is worse. For all his faults, the fact is Obama has had to deal with the fact that George W. Bush inherited a strong economy, a budget surplus, and a nation at peace.

Eight years later, he left Obama with a shattered economy, a trillion dollar deficit, and two useless wars.

Obama saved the country from another Great Depression, rebuilt GM, reformed healthcare, reformed Wall Street (Goldman Sachs switched teams for 2012), doubled the stock market, created 12 straight quarters of GDP growth, created 32 straight months of private sector job growth, got Bin Laden, got Gaddafi, and got us out of Iraq.

Okay, against my better judgement, but here it goes. I don't know you, but I can 100% guarantee you that you have used Algebra in "real life". I mean, honestly, do you never use numbers in your successful business? I know you aren't graphing lines or using the quadratic formula, but trust me, you are solving for unknown quantities. For example, say you are a painter and you are painting a deck that is 200 square ft and one gallon of paint covers 50 square ft, so how many gallons do you need. It's obvious that you need 4 gallons, because 50 * 4 = 200, but that is the same as the equation 50x = 200.

As far as working for the government is concerned, you do understand that there are people dying in combat to give you the right to claim that their "judgment is skewed"? And they could care less what rate you are taxed, even if it was 0%. There are also "business owners and high net worth individuals" whose sole income is earned from work with the government. Have you ever heard of a defense contractor? Or construction companies that do contracted work with the DMV? I guess all of those guys are just hourly union workers that are all pro-Obama??????

or be a military commander, work as an engineer for the government, be a politician, air traffic controller, be a police officer, fireman, city official, or be part of a large company who gets government contracts, work in the coast guard, or manage any portfolios for ANY government workers of any type(some of these portfolio managers make millions!)

I'm sick and tired of taxation without representation. There are jobs out there, but you can make more money sitting on your azz.So why would you work 2 to 3 jobs to make a living? The government will pay you to sit on your azz.Or you could go to prison and be given 3 squares and free medical for life.Too many outs for some to chose to work.

It is very sad how this election has turned into who can make the most mockery and blast the opposition, I know most will go that way, but this year seems extreme. I believe this is because most of society doesn't want either Obama or Romney. It almost seems that some people just want to join a team and poke at the other side. This division of our nation needs to stop somehow, we are America, and need to be united together. Vote for who you want, and I will do the same, and your mockery/made up junk won't convince me, policies, opinions, and actions are what I look for. Gary Johnson is the best option running this year. He, to me, is most similar and able to relate to the common American than any of the other options.

As a small business owner i have been toying with the idea of hiring a sales person to free myself up to do more administration in the office. I would like to pay them a salary and commission but am a little nervous about taking it on. It only makes sense that if I get tax cuts or loo holes that help me keep more of my money i would feel much better about hiring someone. Companies that can keep more of their money hire more people. It's simple math for me Obamas plan doesn't make any sense as far as real job creation and I think if Obama gets re elected we can kiss this country goodbye as we know it. I am not trying to argue with anyone just giving my opinion on our current President. I hear the things he says, and then I watch the things he does. Out of one side of his mouth he talks about how great an ally Israel is while his actions say something much different. I watch the Libya fiasco unfold and see that this President deliberately lied and then fabricated a story about a video that was totally false which even got the guy arrested. While I do not have any dreams of grandeur about Romney, I trust Romney. While I don't agree with his religious beliefs, I feel he is much more equipped to run the country than Obama is. In the grand scheme of things I really don't think it is going to matter at this point. I see a huge crash looming on the horizon and it's a lot closer than I think anyone realizes. I would not want to be President when it hits the fan.

As you have stated business owners have a much more accurate feel for economic conditions. The average worker has no clue of the expense of running a business. They think because you have a nice vehicle or house your rich. They don't know how many bills you have. They have no clue how many hours you work. They don't have a clue about the pressures your under or the worries you have. Small business owners are a vital part of this economy and are on the verge of being taxed to death. If taxes are increased the country is DOOMED!

Lowering taxes three times didn't do anything for our country or economy.

Again, more unsubstantiated claims from Flight. Still waiting for your evidence that Obama "spent over a million dollars to conceal his records". And once you dig that up, release the evidence that "this President deliberately lied and then fabricated a story about a video".

This is the stuff that keeps us divided. We won't be DOOMED if taxes increase and we won't achieve UTOPIA if taxes are decreased. We'll just have minor tweaks in policies and revenues.

Have all of you folks on the east coast voted early? I can't imagine what this hurricane is going to do to the election, but it won't be good.

I already voted but I don't think the hurricane is gonna make it this far west :-)

I'm also a small business owner. The last 4 years have seen my revenue increase 5%, 5%, 30%, 30%, and am on track for 2013 to look more like 35%. I am perfectly happy with how Obama handled the crashing downward spiral he inherited. The market has doubled. Starting Jan. 2014 here in California we'll be able to shop my employee with a preexisting condition around for more competitive insurance thanks to ACA, so my health care costs will go down. I just sent out an offer letter yesterday and am looking at 3-4 more hires over the next 18 months.

I am the 1% and there's no way in hell I'd ever vote for Romney/Ryan. Hopefully they'll lose and the republican party will realize they've been hijacked by insane young-earthers like Flight and nutjobs that think you can't get pregnant from rape. It sure would be nice in 4 years to see an actual fiscal conservative (someone with a little backbone) without all the social insanity.

That's right! If the democrats stay in office, they are NOT going to OUTLAW guns and if the republicans get back in office they will NOT outlaw Abortions, except if the republicans get back in office, they will eventually make all abortions illegal.

Wes: Bill Mahar = Douche

Jo: I do not think abortions, across the board, should be illegal and most repubs don't either. Roe vs Wade isn't going anywhere.

Jeremy: lf you don't think there was a cover up and media blitz regarding the attack of the American Embassy in Libya you are not being honest with yourself.
Old    Jeremy (wake77)      Join Date: Jan 2009       10-28-2012, 4:15 AM Reply
There is no such thing as "a cover up" any longer. At least not one that will last for long. I heard the first mentions that it was a possible terrorist attack on ABC News brief on our local talk radio station on 9/12/12.

"I do not think abortions, across the board, should be illegal and most repubs don't either."

Uhhh, the vice-presidential candidate thinks they should and part of the GOP platform was NO abortions, NO exceptions. Romney's stance is stepping outside of the GOP.

Like I said, Roe vs Wade isn't going anywhere so it is really a non-issue.

So, since there is no longer a cover up, then you are okay with it? See, that's the problem. You, and many others, cannot see the forest for the trees. Obama and the cabinet he has surrounded himself with are liars and will stop at nothing to win, maintain power and blind the public. I can see how many are blinded by what they are given or promised by Obama, but I expect more from people like you who do not live and breath by what is provided by the government, generation after generation.

Yeah, I have. Do you actually think it will be stricken down? I don't, but the left is placing much fear in the people to think that it could and will happen if Romney becomes president and is allowed to sit two conservative justices.
