You'll see it pulling the PWT. Production models will be out soon after I would think.

What it so bad about introducing a new boat to the public, getting their feedback before production and incorporating some of what the public wanted into the new boat? Is the problem that it took so long? How many of those complaining about it are actually waiting for their new Xstar to arrive? And also introducing it on the water for the first time at the first stop of the MC PWT? Seems like good marketing. Didn't someone else have their new boat on the water for the public for the first time at thier first comp of the year?

A couple weeks from now when it shows at the PWT will be interesting. I bet MC is hoping for a 1080 too

If I shared what changed it would ruin the surprise! And yes as far as I know it still has child bearing hips. My sources claim mostly interior adjustments to aid in ergonomics

I'm my eyes the first star was released as a "concept" boat, they took the time to go back and adjust things to make the boat more practical I believe. Im not an MC fan but props to them for taking the time and effort to get things right straight off the bat. TIGE did something similar with the z3 and the commitment shows. I'm hoping for the same type of thing here.

I'm just trying to get mhunter going.

I heard the rope storage area on the tower of the G23 is Martha's Stewart's storage and organization game changer of the year.

I rode behind the New X Star a week or two ago, While I can't say much, my complete unbias opinion is this.
The wake was absolutly HUGE, but there are a few kinks that need to be worked out.
I will leave it at that.

I saw it on ft. loudon last weekend, but could only get a pic of it from a distance, I cropped it down to where it was somewhat viewable (though still tiny). I think it was the same one from Surf but with different graphics, it had the same bright orange interior.

all that room and you still see fatsacs on the floor? i mean even if you are adding "...." amount of weight over stock you'd think they'd be able to hid it...especially in a boat that expensive. that goes for the g23 as well.
Old    Jon Hunter (hunter660)      Join Date: Aug 2007       05-10-2012, 7:04 AM Reply
I think the sac you see would be hidden if the seat was flipped the other way.
Old    Sippi (sippi)      Join Date: Dec 2007       05-10-2012, 7:15 AM Reply
I guess it doesn't matter anyway, the boat could weigh 10k, you could have another 8k of hidden ballast and they are probably going to still put the biggest sac they can find in the bow and the walkway with more in the back just because they can haha.

I didn't like it at first, but i kind of like the orange interior ...its growing on me (not quite as bad as the mullet, but what are you gonna do)... other than it being very halloween-y...it looks good... maybe they should have done white and orange?

Ballast bags sitting all over the floor. Boards on the floor too.
I love MasterCraft (peep my post history if you don't believe me) but when it comes to marketing for this boat - - THEY ARE BLOWING IIIIT.....

Keep in mind that all that ballast on the floor is for the PWT and Harley or Rusty. No matter what, you will never be able to hide 7000lbs of ballast.

If the new Xstar needs 7k in ballast it is an even bigger joke and POS then I already though it was.

Personally, I find the interior kind of cool looking on both boats.

You can see that that took out the head rests that everyone hated that broke up the sunpad. But... you can also tell this isin't a production level boat, since all te cushions aren't in alignment as would be expected of a production boat.

I see a stray from the norm and all the MC haters come out. I think the green looks great, different and a real eye catcher. I wouldn't likely own it but I think as a show boat it's awesome.

If it had been plain white people would have complained about that too.

Of course the guy who works for Nautique has to post ANOTHER pic of the G23 in a MC thread. Hey MH, we have seen the boat no need to post the hundredth pic of it. I get the feeling the new Star has you feeling the need to defend the G23 again and menion how much better you think it is. Can you get any other colored top decks on the G23 or just white?
Old    9Drozd            05-10-2012, 8:00 PM Reply
One revolutionary new feature of the new xstar is that with the orange interior, every cushion doubles as a type II life preserver. Its even color correct, safety orange. Mastercraft....... Savin Lives. Who knew that with their past xstar lawsuit they would come up with this game changing feature. lol

Not hating just funning . But what would you expect when they come up with such shocking interiors. I could see it on a ski jet or maybe an ice cream bar but not on a top of the line flagship 100-150k boat. I hope they took the rest of the boat more seriously?

This just about the truest thing I've read in here. I know that within my lifetime the ballast thing will be figured out. I had a glimmer of hope in the project that became the Super Air Nautique G23, and I do have some hope in what MasterCraft is doing with this iteration of the X-Star - but if 5000+ beyond stock is what even the pros are doing when they slam their boat, we have a serious f#%ing problem on our hands.
Old    L W (501s)      Join Date: Feb 2010       05-11-2012, 8:56 AM Reply
The new Star has 2800 lbs of ballast (like the G23) and weighs 1k more then the last Star. But all that means to pro's is now they can add even more weight to the boats for even bigger wakes. It's really the best way to add new and bigger tricks.... bigger wakes. In the end if we want bigger wakes, it takes more weight, bigger motors and more gas.

And I'm pretty sure they "took the boat serious", they just wanted to do a unique interior. I guess they weren't targetting it to MH, which was probably a big mistake. By the way Michael Hunter, what color top deck did you order on your $130k G23? Oh wait, they only come in white just like all Nautiques.

I think that no matter what the stock wake looks like, the pros are going to weight it to the max anyway. I think if a boat was produced that made a waist high wake, they would be trying to figure out how to make it elbow high. I don't see that changing.

In my opinion, a more realistic goal is producing a stock wake that can take someone from a beginner to an advanced recreational rider. I also think that goal has already been accomoplished. The stock wake isn't going to be the biggest hurdle a rider is going to face in most of the serious wake boats produced now. Again, that is just my opinion.

The dry weight of the 2013 XStar is 5100lbs and is 24'long and 102''wide .
The dry weight of the 2012 G23 is 5800lbs and is 23' long and 102'' wide.

Why does the smaller boat weigh 700 lbs more ? Is the MC made out of lighter materials or just less of them?

Who cares what the dry weight would
Be? If one needs sacks all over the place and the other doesn't - I would
Say the one with sacks everywhere won't be as attractive.
Doesn't matter if the other one weighs more.
Point is- u don't want to have to fill tons of sacks and have them
All over your boat. The actual boat being heavier dry - but already has a monster wake
Takes the cake.

I guess by Mhunters comments a Supra 242 coming in at over 24' and weighing 4,450 must really be made cheaply because its so much less then the g23?
Mhunter you didn't let us know what color of white top deck you ordered on your G23.

I wonder if the new Xstar will blow a transmission the very first event it pulls for it's debut?

And I think for 99.9% on this board, either a new Xstar or G23 with 2800lbs of ballast will be enough to make them happy. Hey Mhunter do you have any videos of YOU riding the G23?

Mhunter you didn't let us know what color of white top deck you ordered on your G23.

I wonder if the new Xstar will blow a transmission the very first event it pulls for it's debut?

And I think for 99.9% on this board, either a new Xstar or G23 with 2800lbs of ballast will be enough to make them happy. Hey Mhunter do you have any videos of YOU riding the G23?
Whats up Levi did I ruffle your feathers since you just bought a 2012 MC . First I never said the Supra or MC was cheaply made those are your words. I only asked why the larger boat weighs less . Maybe its made out of some super strong and super light space age material that only a top builder would use. Why would you assume that it was made cheaply?

Second I never said I was going to purchase a G23 in fact if you search my past posts I distinctly said ''Its not my cup of tea''. So i'm sorry no videos and even if there was one I'm really not that good. I think my next boat will be a comp boat I would like to get a 200 .

Please tell me how a broken PCM part has anything to do with Nautique. And furthermore at least the G23 made its debut. Time will tell weather the G23 will have issues . With a PCM drivetrain I dont think the trans will be one of them. And with the Nautique 5 year warranty if anything crops up it will get handled .

Instead of trying to start some crap between us why dont you tell me more about your X30
I looked at one at the boat show and if I were to ever buy a MC that would be at the top of my list.
You already know I am a Nautique guy and I know you are a MC guy so I dont expect we will be double dating anytime soon. Don't confuse a little prodding with a serious brand bash.
I think MC has a top notch product and when your at the top you have to expect a little ribbing but you do have to admit that green is Fugly.

Look at how much more freeboard the G23 has than the 242 of X Star. Easy to see there is a LOT more glass required to make a boat that tall.
