Do they slow or change performance anyway behind the boat?
Seen some good deals but purely gonna be boat riding.
Should I look for standard version rather than grind?

a lot of people say it does, but I never noticed much of a difference. It just seems to track or grab the water a little more, if that makes sense, and some think it's heavier. I liked it's ride behind the boat

IMO, the riding difference is very minimal...after a two or three sets you think they are exactly the same.

One difference I have noticed on boards like the watson classic and the witness that have very pronounced and sharp molded in fins, the ones with the grind base won't be as deep or sharp looking due to the thicker material on the base. So it might make the board feel slightly looser and maybe a tad slower and heavier.

it is a tad heavy but I love it. I'm also mainly a cable rider..
