I currently belong to L.A. Fitness to play Racquetball, do cardio and lift weights.

I know they have a Club Circuit Boxing class...Have any of you done this?

I have wraps and gloves and have done some boxing iin the past, so I was thinking of checking out the class, but I don't want to get into a session and find out it's some Tae-bo-esque class or something foofy and be stuck there for an hour.

Anyone know?

Awesome! I thought me and my 2 Racquetball partners were the only people still playing. Good to know someone else is stuck in the 80's! ** thumbs up**

I am a member at LA fitness up here in Seattle. I played Racquetball last Saturday. I am friggen terrible. I spend all my time worrying about just hitting the ball and no time on where my opponent is or how to hit a good shot. I have never done the boxing class but let me know if it is any good.

Ha! You'd be gym is packed with Racquetball players. I have to reserve a court 24-48hrs in advance. I know squash was getting popular for a while, but I think Racquetball is back now (at least in L.A.).

Do you know Marcus Shahen from Modesto? He is a baller on the racquetballl court. A few years ago, he beat me playing left handed and that's not even his dominant hand! That was when I juist starting to play, so I sucked, but I'm sure he'd still smoke me.

I feel ya Bret...When I started playing, I had a decent forehand, so I used to spend hours (by myself) woking on my backhand. Now it is better than my forehand.

The more time you work on shots by yourself, the more natural it will come to you during a game.

For both back- and fore-hand, I stand about 5-6 feet from the back corner bounce the ball against the wall and hit passing shots (straight down the line) and cross-court (corner shots) . Do this for your forehand and backhand over and over as low as you can, and kill shots will eventually be second nature.

There are also some cool drills I found on You tube you can find...once your muscle memory takes hold, it becomes second, all of a sudden, you'll start beating the crap out of your buddies that don't practice...I was accused of taking secret lessons one time! HA!

I've walked out of those classes in the past...I've had some terrible instructors. I never get that great of a workout inthsoe classes. I have better luck with total conditioning type classes...a mix between plyo/cardio/weight training.
