I want to get a spare for my 215 we mainly board, bit of surf and the wife skis at 34mph. What should I be looking at in an Acme or OJ?

Definately the Acme brand. I'd say the 1235 prop if you run alot of ballast and if you don't have trailer clearance issues. Lots of boats also use the Acme 1433 which is slightly smaller than the 1235. Either way stick with Acme. My boat came with the OJ 14.25 x 14 prop and it had vibration and growled on acceleration and loaded when surfing. Swapped it out for the Acme 1235 and my boat is better than new. It's quieter inside the boat, absolutely no vibration felt while driving or in the hull by passengers, prop wash turbulance is non-existant compared to the OJ, wake is slightly cleaner, pulls effortlessly even with I'm loaded with 3,400lbs of surf ballast.

what AJ said I had an OJ and switched to ACME much quieter but I chose the 1579 it has been a great prop we mainly wakeboard and surf it is super smooth and will handle lots of ballast we run 1400LBS ballast ,switchblade plus peeps for surfing and it just takes it and smiles...........H

I'm also going to switch to the Acme 1235 (Wakesetter/VTX)... they are on sale now for $507.31.

The Sanger 215 uses a 1:1 transmission and needs a lower pitch prop than the 1235. I use an Acme 911 with a 10.5" pitch three blade design. The 3 Blade is probably more effective than a four blade at low pitch angles. My top speed with that prop is 42 NPH on GPS at 5200 RPM which is the Scorpion engine's maximum RPM. With my 12" pitch the top speed was about 43 at a much lower RPM. The 911 is great for wakeboarding and surfing but the engine runs a bit noisier at 34MPH than you may want. The Acme 525 is an 11.5" pitch and would do the job.

On the recommendation of Acme I got a 653 for my V215. Its been fantastic up to 2500lbs of ballast.

Acme 515 13x12 V L 1 1/8" = stock prop. I keep an extra on the boat too.

I run lots of weight in my boat, +1 for the ACME 911. I love it.

Since this was asked for a Sanger V215, can I ask for a 2003 Sanger v230? 2000 lbs. of Ballast plus about 6 people. Is the Acme 1235 the way to go here as well?

I think the 230 is stil a 1:1 transmission. It would use the same props except that it is a bit heavier to start with. Someone with a 230 could confirm that.

+ 1 more for the Acme 911.

Tommy - I believe the 2003 V230 had the same 1 to 1 transmission meaning you would want to go with the Acme 911 as well. That is the case if your stock prop is in fact the 13 x 12.5 which I think is the Acme 449. Throw me a bone Art.

Acme 515 is stock for 210, 215 and 230. Acme 653 will take you up to about 2k in ballast including gear and people. 911 will take you from between 2k and 3k, ballast, gear and people. All 3 blades BTW. Don't bother payng extra for a 4 blade.

I have a 2 props, my stock prop is an Acme 515, 13x12, 1 1/8". The prop that is on the boat now is a 4-blade, but I don't know what it is. I'll look tomorrow when it's light out.

If I go to a 911, will it pull better out of the water when weighted, but I'll lose top end speed, correct?

If you go to a 911 with a 10.5" pitch from a 515 with a 12" pitch you will pick up a torque increase through the effective gear reduction of the lower pitch. That is about 14% or the same feeling you might get going from a 330 hp engine to a 375 hp engine. It's not night and day but it is definitely noticeable. You are also running the engine at a higher speed so holding a specific speed is a little easier.
You will only lose if you run out of RPM. In my case that was 1 MPH as I was not able to pull into my upper operating range before I changed the prop.

A friend got a 911 prop on his black scorpion V215. Regular wakeboarding with 2000lbs ballast plus people went from 2900rpm stock to 3100. Pulls up a rider like there is no weight and no people in the boat. At top speed he said he lost 4 mph, so from about 42 down to 38, then again we don't really run our boats full throttle to see how fast they will go, but I think that was about 5000rpm.. I have the stock 515 on my V215 and I can go 43 with a constant 500lbs in lead and gear. I would say there is really no downside to running the 911, you could easily slalom with it also. My boat is pretty pissed with 1500 ballast with the stock prop but it gets the job done, eventually I will go with the 911 myself, just no need to replace mine til it takes a hit. If you don't run ballast then the 911 my be overkill. Also if you are happy with the stock sometimes used props come up on the classifieds here that people switch out.

I am also running a 911 prop. Great holeshot with it. Like everyone else says you lose a little top end but Im not racing anyone and usually keep it around 30 MPH when just driving.

Definetly the 911. I have an 03 230 and run up to 2500# and we get on plane no problem.

even running stock ballast this summer I missed it when it took a rock hit on vacation.

Thanks for all the responses, I didn't mean to hijack Ian's thread. Sounds like the 911 is the way to go... Top speed isn't really a concern, but getting up with lots of weight is, thanks everyone.
