If it is less than or greater please post the length of your rope.

I didn't realize so many people rode at 80' . I should have had that as a choice

For me it depends on a # of things. Boat, weight, speed, time of the season (when it's early season and I'm knocking of the rust I typically bring it in 5'), etc. It varies from 75' - 85' depending on the above factors...

80 is where the wake gets lippy. SNAPP!

I mean really. How bad ass are you for trying to pick a fight with a guy ONLINE!?

You ever think this is one of your guys giving you a hard time? Kinda funny if it was.

85-90 Feet Back! Depends on the boat and the lbs in it.

Yeah, some guys have really narrow wakes so will ride super far out, some have wide wakes so will ride rather close in, and then there are those guys who have super wide wakes AND ride really far out... I do hope to be one of them someday

70' for me, sometimes I'll bring it into 65' if something's just not rocking.

Ive tried to ride longer line lengths (75') to get more hang time and because I thought it was necessary to do bigger tricks (7s, mobes, etc) but I think Im giving up on that. I just ride 5x better at 70 vs 75, so why keep trying to ride longer? Im not Randall Harris, I dont have any compensation thing going on, so Im happy at 70 as long as I keep learning tricks. Ill only ride 75 if the wake is huge, which is super fun but is not a regular occasion.

Adam, most of the time finding the right rope length depends on your speed, which usually depends on how big or wide the wake is. I ride about 75 when we just have stock ballast and the wedge in our VLX (which an awesome setting on our boat) and about 23.5 mph. When we load down the boat with another approx. 2000 lbs of ballast, the wake gets a little wider so i speed up the boat to about 24.5 to clean up the wake just a little bit, and i put my rope to about 80 feet.

Malibu vlx 2,500lbs 24 mph = 80'
210 SAN 1,800lbs 23mph = 75'
210 san 900lbs 22mph = 70'
nautique 220 stock ballast 23mph = 75'

Those seem to be the sweet spots on my buddies boats.

Yea benj I do the same. 70' with stock ballast 1250lbs+wedge+725lb sack at about 23-23.5, if we add over 4-5 people to that Ill bump up to 75' at about 24. Any faster and the wake just gets smaller

I voted 60'... I've faceplanted so many times going ~22 at 75' that I need to come up with a new game plan AT 45 years old it hurts when I fall at faster speeds. This season I'm gonna slow my speed down and shorten the line so I can get my W2W down. I'm going to play around with it to find a happy place with speed, lenth of line and my X30's wake...
