What was the wake like behind those Axis boats?

Enjoyable to ride in?

Enjoyable to ride behind? Just curious.

I rode behind the Axis December 13th in Michigan for a Polar Bear ski event for Cancer (28 deg.) They had some Malibu's and an Axis I wanted to ride the VLX but it was a long waite and i was freezing my begets off as it was... the Axis was ready, so i said fill the ballast and me and the guys will take it out for a ride (5 people in the boat). with that said...... The wake was actually good (wide transition, rampy with a little lip) i had a great run and i could see huge potential with extra sacks. I did not drive the boat but inside was big and it seemed like a bargain for the price.

The Vandalls wake is bigger than most people can handle. Great shape and very big!

Test drove one and handles/drives awesome. The inside is very spacious - more like a 23ft boat. With the wedge and stock ballast the wake was just like Jim described. In its price range (for new boats) I am not sure if there is any boat that compares to it as far as space, wake and handling.

I rode behind one last year. With stock ballast and the floating wedge deployed the wake was okay, but definitely lacking. However.... the great thing about these boats is that the ballast is all under the floor. This leaves TONS of room for additional ballast. To help with that the Axis has plumbed in fittings for additional ballast already there.

All you have to do is plug in your extra Pro-X sacs and your internal ballast and additional ballast are all controlled with the same switch. That said, on my second set we filled up some gravity games sacs in the rear and a 1000 lb triangle bow sac up front. The wake was beyond huge. This may sound like blasphemy, but the wake was too big (for my skills anyway). I'm sure you could dial it in pretty easy by going with a little less additional ballast.

I loved the boat overall, but there are two things I wish could be changed....

1) I would prefer the power wedge, but the Axis only comes with the floating wedge (last year anyway).

2) The drop from the back of the sun pad to the swim platform is a loooooong way down.

Aside from that the Axis is a great boat and if I were in the market I would not hesitate to buy one.

I have ridden behind Randall's boat and I was very impressed. The boat has a super clean shape on the wake (similar to a over weighted malibu) Transition with a nice kick at the top of the wake. The boat handles very good and didn't have any issues with chine locking while turning like some other boats when they are fully weighted. The axis's are great boats for the money.

NO,but once I have ridden behind one, I will have rode behind one one.

I rode behind one in a tournament. Not totally sure how it was weighted, but I am sure it had extra weight in addition to factory ballast. That wake was very steep(which I wasn't expecting being from a malibu hull), but I liked it very much. I ride Nautiques mostly so the steep wake did me very well. Although it did take a while to plane out, so I'm guessing it had a LOT of extra weight in it with 10-11 people in it.

I've heard nothing but good things about it, it's worth a test drive.

My buddy purchased an axis last summer..... it's awesome...The boat has a lot of room for everyone to stretch out...the lockers in the back are very roomy, so you can add weight and still have room for gear...he added two 250's(one on each side), boat drives great...I love the looks of the boat.... it looks alot like the xstar on the water...OH YEAH and The WAKE is awesome, clean clean wake...and great kick at he top... if I didnt just buy a boat last year and My buddy didn't have one.. I would definitely be in the market for one....

Test drove one last summer. Didn't have the plug and play, but the wake was nice with the stock ballast and free floating wedge. What I really liked about it was how well it drove. very responsive.

We Demoed one around October 09 and it had the plug and play ballast with wedge and factory ballast. We filled them all and the wake was extremely clean and very consistent. The boat has a ton of space and the pickle fork is great too. It was just me riding and my gf driving and I loved the wake. No whitewash, even 15 ft behind me on either side.
I ordered my Axis and waiting on it to be built. It starts build on Feb8. I'll post pics up when it comes in. I have rode behind a couple other wake boats so this wasn't the first stop...I absolutely love the Axis wake. It is rampy and clean. It is very consistent and drives great too. This pic is stock ballast, plug and play and wedge down. 2 people in boat. The picture really doesn't do it justice...its taller than it appears.

Awesome boat and great wake. We got to ride behind one last summer. I was very happy with it. We almost ended up with one.

We'll probably have a couple at the Spring Ride this year. If any Cali riders want to try one, come on out. There's a chance that Vandall will be there with his.

Thanks for all the input! Looks like I def need to get behind one and give it a test drive.

If anyone in Nor Cal has one and needs a winter riding partner let me know.

I was really impressed by the one I saw at the boat show last weekend. Might actually steal my heart away from the MB Team I wanted.

the axis a22 is an awesome boat, the wake is really poppy, its similar to a VLX wake. has an awesome transition. i love it.

I have a VLX and test-drove the Axis. I was very impressed behind the wheel and behind the boat. The wakes are very similar. I tended to think that the Axis may have been a bit more mellow (due to the manual vs. the power wedge). I bet that if you were willing to spend the money you could get a power wedge on the Axis.

The Axis has all of the fundamental quality standards of the Malibus minus a few comforts. It is really a killer boat.

I thought it was a great boat, too. The one we rode was a bit of a slug out of the hole, but it didn't have the bigger motor and had the stock prop on it. We added a fair amount of extra on top of the plug and play ballast.

$ for $ I don't think it can be beat. I love Sangers, but at about the same price as a 215 I'd take the Axis all day long.
