So I got these WakeAir speaker cans that came with my boat and they had some pioneer speakers in them so I bought some kicker ds650's(oversized 6 1/2???) to replace them and they wont fit!?!?!?! I see kicker also makes a ds600 (maybe an undersized 6 1/2 speaker???)should I try those?!?! I assumed the cans were for any 6 1/2 speaker but I guess not. Any help is greatly appreciated!!! :-)

I'm pretty sure you can use a dremal (spelling?) or something similar to make the holes bigger so the speakers will fit.

Most speaker manufacturers list the required opening size, measure the opening of the speaker can and go by that.

The DS600 req's a 4-3/16" and is a 6" woofer.
The DS650 req's a 5-1/2" and is a 6.5" woofer.

I have put 8" speakers in cans designed for 6.5's. I used a jigsaw to cut out the face so it was only 3/16" thick when I was done. I cut all the way to the weld then drilled and tapped the cans for the mounting holes (also re-drilled the speakers too). When there is a will there is a way...
