This video explains it. basically a 3D image capture rendered into a single image but manipulatable in a 3D workspace. its nuts.

Very Cool.. Purist will be up in arms about this and ironically the video stops right there.. :-O

Now let's see how we can apply this to video? ;-)

What's even more amazing is that the guy is presenting this off his PC...!?!?
