has a bs 9 been landed? I didn't hear anything about that.
Old    K.B.C.            06-25-2008, 12:25 PM Reply
nevermind, just saw the thread, the bs9 gets my vote for sure

crow 7 was the nastiest so far

10's shouldn't count since Parks' was years ago....

Toss up between Scarecrow 7 or KGB 5
Old    derek (to_blind)      Join Date: Mar 2007       06-25-2008, 1:40 PM Reply
its move of the year, not NEW move of the year. for all we know someone could blow us away with a ts bs 7 that was just bigger and cleaner than Shanes in the past ...progression isn't adding a spin or a flip, its instilling style, control, etc.. a la Sharpes' ts indy double back roll...
Old    A-dub (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       06-25-2008, 2:03 PM Reply
so you started this to argue with people on their opinions and interpretations? If it's not adding a spin or flip, why are all the examples just that?
Old    derek (to_blind)      Join Date: Mar 2007       06-25-2008, 2:19 PM Reply
umm...do you mean the EXAMPLES...?? haha I just listed some of the more popular tricks..i.e. the ones that make the headlines...what trick would I like to see win? maybe a hs fs 3 rewind bs 3 with a grab ...or something like that, showing line control, flat spinning, etc...but thats just me...to many people, a 1080 is what they wanna see, so thats why i think we should include it as a canidate for move of the year.

Lyman: Backside 270 from wake to rail.
Old    derek (to_blind)      Join Date: Mar 2007       06-25-2008, 2:32 PM Reply
good call english...that was sick...maybe a wake to rail transfer style trick could win...2008 is a good year to be a wakeboarder/fan.
Old    shane mckenna (mckenna)      Join Date: Mar 2008       06-25-2008, 3:54 PM Reply
whatever that trick is that bob soven invented wins by far.
Old    derek (to_blind)      Join Date: Mar 2007       06-25-2008, 3:59 PM Reply
bob soven invented a trick?
Old    Stephen Higgins (srh00z)      Join Date: Jun 2003       06-25-2008, 4:01 PM Reply
The Billion Dollar Baby is what Bob Soven calls his tantrum with a tail grabbed 3. I can't remember if the 3 is FS or BS. It is pretty sick.
Old    derek (to_blind)      Join Date: Mar 2007       06-25-2008, 4:08 PM Reply
oh ya, i remember now...thats a sick trick too, love the definition of the two distinct tricks...a tanny then a tail 3..i am pretty sure it was FS...and I'm also very sure that it has been done before, just maybe not with a tail grab 3...Ruck has done similar tricks, and Briscoe way back in the day, there is a thread on here about it somewhere..anyways...you're right, thats a good-lookin baby!
Old    Scooter (czap)      Join Date: Oct 2007       06-25-2008, 4:16 PM Reply
Bob didnt invent it buuut its still a sick sick trick!

This year has been crazy with progression!!
Old    Dave (knarbar)      Join Date: Nov 2006       06-25-2008, 4:27 PM Reply
BS9 here for sure.
Old    WS (lf23)      Join Date: Nov 2007       06-25-2008, 8:57 PM Reply
Bobs trick is sick i heard brisco never actually landed it claims but no proof, Bobs is the first documented. Plus he grabbed the of it and its huge.
Old    John Haile (waterdork88)      Join Date: Aug 2005       06-25-2008, 9:20 PM Reply
lets see. kgb 5 is sick but multiple people are doing it. same goes with the 10.

so i'd have to say

#1 phillips crow 7. clean as hell and grabbed
#2 if wakeskating counts stu shinn's 360 bigspin
#3 rusty's backside 9 (it hurts me to say such a rediculously awesome trick would deserve only 3rd)

but thats just my 2 cents
Old    Stephen Higgins (srh00z)      Join Date: Jun 2003       06-25-2008, 9:22 PM Reply
I think Stuart Shinn's Big Spin is far and away the wakeskate move of the year. The season is still young though.
Old    Trevor (hawk7)      Join Date: Apr 2007       06-25-2008, 9:44 PM Reply
I thought big spins were the most common trick in wakeskateing, like 7's in wakeboarding, + I thought Reed was really close back when they were filming Asterisk 2??

1.) Agreed, Crow Seven, super clean.
2.) Back Nine
3.) KGB 5 just because it's a really cool looking trick.
4.) I forgot the Indy double back was landed this year!

Who's 10 do you guys think was the best? I still think harf's was the cleanest so far, then Rathy's then Smeele's then Rusty's
Old    Jerm I. Side (jermiside)      Join Date: Jun 2007       06-25-2008, 9:46 PM Reply
wasnt it a switch big spin 5 or something like that?

i gotta vote for the hs bs 9...ridiculous
Old    Chris (brody)      Join Date: Jul 2006       06-25-2008, 9:51 PM Reply
Stu Shinn landed a backside 360 big spin, pretty tech. Here's the video:

Old    Jerm I. Side (jermiside)      Join Date: Jun 2007       06-25-2008, 9:58 PM Reply
Stu doesnt even make that look hard...thats ridiculous. i cant even wrap my head around it.

backside 360 big spin. the board rotates around the opposite way your body rotates, and it was backside...this year has been amazing for the progression of riding.
Old    John Haile (waterdork88)      Join Date: Aug 2005       06-25-2008, 10:17 PM Reply
cleanest 10

#1 malinoski
#2 rathy
#3 harf
#4 smeele
Old    John Haile (waterdork88)      Join Date: Aug 2005       06-25-2008, 10:23 PM Reply
actually i believe both the board and body rotated backside (same direction). and he did make it look too easy
Old    Josh Weitekamp (da_kamp)      Join Date: Jan 2008       06-25-2008, 11:40 PM Reply
wheres this ole 10 ?
Old    Trevor (hawk7)      Join Date: Apr 2007       06-25-2008, 11:46 PM Reply
water dork, I agree with the backside bigspin thing, it seems he did a b/s shove-it to late b/s 3. I find it hard to believe you think rusty's was the cleanest, take another look:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=rUCmfpkjmeI&feature=related
vs.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=9Feja1inqgs&feature=related

now look at the landings alone.

Yes Trevor but,
Rusty has done multiple 1080's you can't just judge from one clip.
His 1080 in Push Process is effortless

Nah hs bs 900 cause its never been done cant count wakeskate stuff cause its a different thing although SS's crazy gotta call Rusty the king so far though I dont think it will be the end of the progression this year
Old    murrayair            06-26-2008, 12:51 AM Reply
1. One of the 1080's
2. BS 9
3. Indy double backroll
4. Crow 7
5. KGB 5

Very, very tough choice between the BS 9 and the 10

Crow 7 was the sickest in my book. perfectly executed. Looks much better than the super spins I think.

I second Lymans Wake Jump to Rail Riding.
Old    M-Dizzle (liquidmx)      Join Date: Jun 2005       06-26-2008, 8:47 AM Reply
Lyman's gap to rail and Murphy's "season ender" were BY FAR the most innovative tricks this year (thus far). I think those two deserve the move of the year simply because it was a different way of looking at the sport of Wakeboarding. Dont get me wrong I have a ton of respect for anyone adding an extra 180 to a trick but those two specific instances were very unique and innovative moves which deserve recognition. I am willing to bet most people who saw those two moves thought "wow, thats crazy, I never thought of that".

what was murphys season ender?? anyone have video?

i was referring to rusty's 10 at the end of this video

http://videos.wakeboardingmag.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=813&title=Mastercraft_Team_ Riders

keith lyman's gap was rediculous. very creative and huge.
Old    Josh (romes)      Join Date: Sep 2006       06-26-2008, 9:39 AM Reply
Lyman's wake to rail or Murphs' season ender drop. i'd say lymans wake to rail was the most legit thing that's gone down yet this year. nuckin futs.
Old    matt moss (mossy44)      Join Date: Oct 2001       06-26-2008, 10:36 AM Reply
is there a video of lyman's wake to rail? or where can i see it?

Forgot about that HUGE drop that Murphy and Valliere did. The snowboarder in me is changing my vote from the back 9 to the drop. Man these are tough choices, Lyman's wake 270 to box is also unbelievable. Thanks and WAY TO STEP IT UP FELLAS!!!
Old    Billy G (billy_og)      Join Date: Jun 2008       06-26-2008, 11:41 AM Reply
Crow 7 is probably the most tech trick anyone has done to date, but you gotta hand it to the boys for crushing mad double ups and spinning 9's and 10's going HUGE.
Old    Shane (wakebrdrnc)      Join Date: Mar 2004       06-26-2008, 11:48 AM Reply
Rusty's 10 in Push Process is about the cleanest one I have seen yet.
Old    jb (rico80)      Join Date: Aug 2002       06-26-2008, 12:01 PM Reply
BS 9 would prob get my vote, Lyman's wake to rail would be second. The 10's are all amazing but with how many have gone down I'd have a hard time giving it best trick.
Old    Chris (brody)      Join Date: Jul 2006       06-26-2008, 1:13 PM Reply
The thing is, a crow 7 is very similar to an ole ts 1080. He also added a melon to it, and it was w2w, not off a d-up. I think that soven's crow 7 is superior to any of the 10's based solely off difficulty. He also stomped it cleanly.
