I have an older boat I inherited.

This is what it looks like:

1) What would be the best way to wakeboard/kneeboard behind this boat?
Tie the rope to the cleat? (it is a reinforced cleat)

2) would it be possible to add a "wakeboard" tower to this boat? And how much have you guys paid to have these things installed on your boat if it is possible?

Well, first see what the wake is like and if it is worth spending money on. I would try adding some kind of extended pylon (even a home made, simple one first just to check what the wake is like back there). If it sucks, sell the boat and by an SN2001

I would not put a tower on that boat. Wouldn't even think about it.

I would sell that boat and buy like Greg said a SN2001, if you want a good cheap wakeboard boat.

I can't sell the boat, it's a family heirloom practically.

It's a 3500 lb. boat.. the wake is mammoth.. I know because i've water skied behind it, but I'm just getting into wakeboarding.

Greg > Tell me more about the extended pylon, i'm not really sure what you mean.

The wake is absolutely huge on this boat.

Brandon > can you give me a "why" on your statement? Thanks!

Everyone has there own opinion, it's a family heirloom, Rig up a boom, if you like it, call 13th floor or another tower company and do it. It's a cool boat BTW looks really clean, tower would look cool on it too.

Pylon is definitely the answer if you're going to keep it. Actually a cool boat and I bet the wake isn't too bad. If I had it I would name it the S.S. Minnow.

Andy > what would the wake pictures tell you, what would you be looking for?

Compared to a lot of the wakeboarding videos I've seen, this boat with simply curb weight and 3-4 people produces an as big or bigger wake than any wakeboarding boat.

easy zam, that's a pretty bold statement. and its not always how tall, but transitions, lip, width, wash, tracking, and how mellow or rampy the wake is.

cody > good post, you're right, there's a lot I don't know about "wakes" I just see it pumping out a massive one.

I'll take the photos next time I get the boat out, and bring it back here.

But tell me what i'm looking for.

most newer wake boats are over 4000lbs. Xstar is like 4300. nautique 230 is over 4k. 3500 is really not all that heavy. Then the wake boats are adding a thousand to 4000lbs on top of that.

Mike > ok, that's cool. All I'm saying is that people who allegedly know wakes have told me this boat puts out a big time one.

Also, I own many leather bound books, and the boat smells of rich mahogany.

OnlyInboards > do you have to screw anything in there? or just attach those lines?

this could be a good solution as long as there aren't any screws into the fiberglass involved.

Oh.. i see there are screws involved.. well thanks for the link.. i'll think about it.

One thing that I would check is how clean the wake is between say 22 and 24 mph - cause that's probably the speed you'll want to ride.

Maybe find an experienced wakeboarder to ride behind the boat and check it out.

Get a used pylon, just sold one for 100 bucks, It will be great for the old school boats, or fishing boats. Got my old one at 2ndwake.com and keep checking ebay.
