Never heard of them. How come there's no prices on their site? It just says $x.xx and login to view. That's kind of odd for a place selling stuff.

I know. They have some to demo on a lake near me so i think i'm going to check them out. Maybe i'll do a review like you did.

Please do. The more we can know about more about how different boards ride the better, especially from lesser know brands.

The only prob with ME reviewing is that I have no access to any other boats and have only ridden 4 boards. But I'm willing to throw out my .02.

I was looking at these also as a gift, but no prices kinda turned me away. I'd still be interested in purchasing if the website was more detailed.

He's been around for awhile and builds quality handmade wakesurf boards. They are priced around the same as most of the other custom wakesurf board builders. He also has a facebook page.

I found that if you register for an account on the web page, the pricing will be displayed.

Also interested in hearing some feedback on the boards.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for the interest in my Lakewakes brand wake product's.
I started building boards in 2008 with the help of Jeff Walker and selling in 2009. I perform every part of the build from design to hotcoat. Lakewakes offers surf and skim style boards for sale and prices are in the 600+ range. For 2014 Lakewakes has stepped up their game in having the lightest most durable board on the market. ALL boards weigh 5.5# or less with Agenda wake traction. No one else can touch this for the same price. Lakewakes wakesurf board are vacuum bagged and form moulded into shape, and use more layers of fabric per side then other builders in the industry. Lakewakes is also the first to offer their Dealers a RENTAL board program to generate income for the board shop. SIDE NOTE : In 2012 Lakewakes wakesurf boards had 3 team riders place 1,2,3 at Worlds

Thanks for looking

Here are some pix of projects I have done. Our boards are wrapped in a Textured finish that keeps the underlying fabrics from getting cracks, My TEK finish does not add or subtract speed from the board . Typical board weight are around 5 pounds 8 ounces with Agenda pro pad set.

I like the looks of the boards. I need to get to the Oconee store to demo one. That orange and black board would look great in my boat.

oh ok ... well if we can catch up in the area for a few hours on the lake that'd be great. wife wants to grab a new board probably for next season, and we're clueless on what to get.

We currently have a LF Custom Quad. It's got too much floatation for my wife. She can't get it to stabilize in the water and as such, it slides out on her.
She rode an IS mucus and liked it for the most part
She rode a LF Fish but it was slow and sluggish, but she was able to spin a 360, but fell out the back every time. If the board was faster, she would have gotten it.
We're going to demo a Sweet Spot Pro, because I think it will be a better board for her to finally get her 360 on

So with the above in mind, what does LakeWakes have to offer that will fit her needs?
Old     (brewkettle)      Join Date: Jan 2009       09-18-2014, 10:58 AM Reply
will need her weight and height, I offer a 4.3 skim board that works well MSRP AT 469.00 , and the smallest surf style at 4.6 x 19 3/4 for MSRP 479.00

I will have both of these size boards with me when i visit gaston
Old     (boardjnky4)      Join Date: Dec 2011       09-18-2014, 1:03 PM Reply
she's 5'7" and 115lb soaking wet. I'd like it to work for both of us. I'm 6'0" 175lbs.

I think we'd prefer surf style. I also know that custom boards sized individually would be best, but there isn't a budget for that.

How does the surf style board ride? will it spin easily?

Tom,
your weight would be fine for the 4.6, but you may be too tall for the board as foot stance might be wide. you would be more comfortable on the 4.9 board.
I am 5.9 @165# and i ride the 4.6 size board or smaller . single concave bottom boards spin easy. all mine spin easy.

Some kind words from Matt Parsons on his Lakewakes Hooligan Bigboy wakesurf board. 5.0 x 22.250. Matt is 6.5 tall and 280 pounds. A true Bigboy.

Dude mark thanks so much for working with me on that board! just wanted to let you know that I went ropeless the first time out tonight. It was like night and day on that board! I'll get you some pictures next time out, it was too dark on the dusk ride .

Not to mention everyone was jealous of the slick colors and texture of the board. Everyone was impressed!

I'll get some video next time. The board was very fast, we were coming up on the swim deck quick! The maneuvering was good, my buddy could kick it and ride it backwards with the rope. I didn't see any one pearl at all. Everyone was talking about how good of a board it was! I'm totally pleased

Only watched the first flying saucer video so far, looks like a fun board. It looks like a pretty quick and loose board but also pretty controllable with him throwing some airs on it.

Joe rode the board well, I thought he needed a bigger board as he was really heavy on his moves at times. Thanks for the link correction. He was pleased with the performance of the Flying Saucer and it rode very well backwards as well.

May I ask what type of cloth you are using for the "textured" effect that your boards have?
Are they Vaccum bagged or hand lay-up?
Old     (brewkettle)      Join Date: Jan 2009       10-09-2014, 7:15 PM Reply
I use the same type of textured cloth as Coil industries uses on thei Kick series of boards. And Yes all my boards are vacuum bagged and form moulded into shape. I am able to use more industrial sized cloths and less epoxy resin per side. The textured finish will keep the underlying glass from cracking like boards build with standard lay up techniques. It does not change the speed of the board.

Gotta love the 3d printed fins too!!! great way to test new designs, Way to think out of the box!

Cant talk about the cloth other then it protects the glass under it. Always been original and different.

Those pigmented finishes are available, but degrade quickly over a short time. A carbon/glow in dark glass cloth is available at 100 a yard. Would take 200 bux of this fabri per board

I rode this board last night. (The one that Desi/Surf Addict just got.) I have to say that it is fast and responsive. you have to be on top of your game when riding it, but it was honestly a very enjoyable board to ride. One thing that I noticed was that it was able to ride WAY back in the pocket and recover from farther back than most boards.

Definitely will be the go-to skim board on our boat. Well done.
