Is three amps too much for 2 Batteries. I have two Performance Teqnick amps and a ARC Ks
300.2. I dont do any beach partying so its not going to be sitting for extended periods with music playing.

depends on your alternator, the max current draw of the amps and how you play your system... pretty hard to say based on "3 amps" but I would say thats pushing it. i would think about isolating one battery and sticking 2 amps on it.

I have the 2 Performance amps on one battery and the KS on another.

I run 3 amps totaling about 1k watts continuous on 2 1k amp Interstate deep cycle marine batteries and stock 70 amp alt. Also have a light bar that is pulling 330 watts. No batt switch or upgraded wiring. Going on 6 years and havn't had any problems. Still original batteries too. I carry a portable jump box on the boat that I have still yet to use myself but have loaned out to others many times. I also run an onboard battery maintainer that I plug in after each trip.

You should be fine. I've run more with less.

Having more batteries also = more to charge when you get back under way. If your batteries are fully charged and you are at riding speed your alternator shouldn't have much trouble keeping up with that load.

My first Sanger I ran a 2 JL's (1 on boat, 1 on tower) and a big class d monoblock for my sub. I ran that off 1 battery and never had an issue.

The battery maintainers like Sparky is referring will make your batteries last at least twice as long. Letting batteries sit in a state of discharge kills them very quickly, in my experience.

That's the main issue. Can you recharge in a reasonable amount of time? cheap insurance for your batts.

I would be cautious to get a true battery maintainer such as a 1.5 amp battery tender.

Get a charger/maintainer - something like a pro mariner.

I can keep the batteries charged, its just a Pain because i ride daily and that would be one more thing to deal with.

yea, i didn't realize how small those amps are.

I would say a pain is when you show up and your batteries are low from them sitting below fully charged. If you mount the chargers in your boat, you're plugging in one cord.... pretty painless IMO

I run 3 Wetsounds Amps (Syn 2, Syn 4, Syn Micro) with 2 batteries. All the amps are on one battery and the other battery is a backup. Its on an isolator so I always have a way to crank up and head home. We never beach it though, and just ride. Never run into any issues.

Riding a lot the charge wont be an issue. More of a winter time preventative maintenence thing. Hard wire a charger in and just plug it in when the boat sits.
