Vacuum canisters for advance are usually under the distributor cap, as it rotates the rotar assembly relative to the cap. But they've also been defunct at least in automotive since the early 80's.

I would never tow with a gasoine turbo. Too much heat. If you are getting an F-150, check out the 5.0L. And drive them both, Ford is really pushing the Ecoboost, and I would be highly suspicous...
