i rode a coex for a couple years, and then i switched to the Phase 5 Drew Pro. The Phase 5 has a nice, loose feel like the coex, but tons more push and it is way lighter for aerials... definitely...

I would say your best option is to just buy a few new traction strips and put them where you need traction. Not too spendy and you won't have to damage your board.
