It helps alot to spray some WD40 inbetween the veins to lubricate. Pull the kill switch, make sure everything is clear of pulleys/motor, and bump engine a couple times. Helps lubricate everything....

I always try to run my boat to about 1/8-1/16 of a tank at the end of the season and stabil that fuel. That way at the beginning of the season I can full fill with fresh gas.

I would try it out as it is. Take the manual with you, and follow the instructions. Every boat will react differently due to factors such as paddlewheel alignment, prop, ect.
