I have been able to do a couple but I can't get them consistent--I keep getting off balance in the air when my leading hand goes for the grab

For anyone that is good at these--does putting your right hand in the middle the handle help?--I have been trying it this way--and it seems to help a little

That's not the way you are supposed to do it--is it?

Thanks

Erik, it sounds like you are grabbing as you leave the wake and not just after you leave the wake. I would bet that your edge is causing the problem, not the location of your grab. When I first learned them, I would start for the grab before I left the wake causing me to stargaze like crazy.

Pop first, then go for the grab, as Matt said.
