Recommend a good line for me!
 

Well last weekend I ripped up my line on my prop on the last run. DOH! I've been riding a moderately priced proline I think. The line itself has been great, but I think the diamond patterned foam handle is a bit abusive on the hands.

I stopped using it because the coated line tangles SO BAD every time it's pulled in. (so much for it being tangle-free). So I think I don't like coated lines, unless this one is just garbage because its cheaper. I use it as a backup now.

Ive been doing alot of riding now, so I'm actually ok with spending the big $$ if the ropes are better. Any recommendations?

The hyperlite a line mainline is the best mainline IMO. It is coated, but it is much softer, runs through your hands smoother and tangles the absolute least of the lines I've used.

You can find it for cheaper, and for reference, Hyperlite Lines and Accurate Lines are equivalent. Hyperlite owns Accurate.

Coated lines are a pain but if they are properly pulled in, they are good. The quarter turn twist on the pull in has us on the 3rd year of our line.

I swear with the A - line this is unnecessary. I wrap mine like an electrical cord from elbow to hand. The coating is much less tacky than the others I've used. Especially once it gets wet. Potential snags slide right out when the line while the boat is pulling away.

I'm thinking about getting the Ronix combo 4.0 . Any input on that one?

I know alot of people say good things about the A-Line but I've been so frustrated with my other coated rope that I'm not sure I want to give another one a shot just yet.

Important to untangle the rope every so often by keeping the handle in the boat, letting the entire line out the back, and cruise around at low speed for a while. The line will unwind all the twists/turns and will be much easier to wrap. I do this a couple times a year and it works wonders to avoid tangles.

Over/under or roadie wrap. It's the only way to wrap any cable/line/cord. Never tangles or knots.

Yeah pick your poison on the line there's no magic bullet, you just gotta train all your buddies the proper technique. As for handles I love the Murray handle, pricey but feels great on the hands.

I used the Ronix combo 6.0 yesterday for the first time and it was alot better than my last ropes/handles. The Rope itself is coated but seems to not tangle as bad and I like that it comes with alot of extensions, including 2.5' ones. The Handle is where I think the biggest improvement came for me. The material is some kind of suede and it's a ton easier on the hands than the foam material in my last 3 handles I've used. Maybe it's just personal preference, but I feel like my hands got less tore up.

The only complaint I have with it is that there is protruding sticking on the suede, so while everything else feels great the stitching is rough.

Accurate A-line

The Proline Dowdy package is awesome. Love the 1/4" coated mainline also. The handle is very comfy as well.

This is the line we use. I got it in the package with the handle. I honestly love the fact that it FLOATS. makes life easier when changing riders, etc.

I'm like you, I hate coated lines! If I'm the only one using it and winding it back up its fine. But you'll always have that one cowboy who thinks he's trying to lasso a bull before throwing it out! I have 3 lines and handles I keep in my boat...two are Ronix Mainline ropes and one's a LF of the same material. Never have any probs out of these!! I'll buy nothing but this type. My preference of handle is my Ronix One handle with last years cross bar and T handle (2015 not the latest one which is black and yellow, its not comfortable). I actually had a 2015 handle but a (big) friend of mine snapped its rope inside the T section learning to board, which is why I now carry a 2nd rope for beginners and a 3rd for girls! I bought a 2016 One handle and didn't like its bar, but fortunately, they are interchangeable so I just changed it out for my '15 bar. I don't know what the material of the handle is, but I love it! Feels like it will last forever. It's almost like a soft velcro and it is a touch fatter which is easier on the hands! Suede starts deteriorating too quickly.

The OBrien Team T-bar with Armor line, the most comfortable handle I have ever used! And the coated line rolls up nicely.

i keep my ropes on line winders from HO. they are cheap and easy

Both of our in-house combos feature a super plush/comfortable handle and then a more traditional rope to help keep the cost down. Might be what you're looking for if you're over coated lines.

In my personal opinion and experience, my coated combos have normally "behaved" pretty well when coiling. However, I do the 3-quarter turn with each coil as well. Being meticulous here will help preserve your coated line/prevent tangles like others have mentioned.

If you want to give coated combos another shot, I suggest going with one of the "PRO" packages from Hyperlite like the Murray Pro, Kruz Pro, Relapse Pro, or Franchise Pro - seen below:

All four of these feature Hyperlite's (Accurate) flat line coated mainline. Again, in personal experience "flat line" style ropes tend to behave even better than a normal coated line.

+1 on the flatline above. I've been using it 4 months now, and it's the best I've ever had. It looks like the price is better than the $180 I paid for it, too.

I just bought this from a local pro shop on sale $150 ,but still expensive, what do you think? ronix North T handle and Proline Flat Line.. I have not got to use it yet

BTW aren't Prolines Flat line and Hyperlites flat line come from the same place?
