Bullard's Bar - Lake Camping in October

I'm squeezing a camping trip into October at Bullards Bar. I've camped here once last August, on the shore, not at a campground. I think I'll reserve a site at Garden Point this year. I'm concerned about the lake level - should I camp in one of the drive-in campgrounds instead? If anyone recommends garden point, do you have a particular campsite that's best?

I wouldn't boat camp right now. The lake is extremely low. You'll be lugging camp gear about 100 yds in each direction. This was as of 3 weeks ago so it may be even lower at this point. I'd try schoolhouse or dark day.

Yeah unless you pack really really light or bring sherpas, it's a haul.

I did October last year - wouldn't do it again. Half the trip was packing in/out. Amazing place tho.

Probably get a great deal on a basic houseboat at that time. Negotiate with them. Those boats sit from September to May.

Already have a houseboat booked for this weekend at New Melones!

You might take a look at the fire........I assume you will be ok but just be aware.
