Interesting Prostar 190 for sale

The boat looks really cool and looks like the guy did a great job but what do you guys think this thing is actually worth? I am not asking because I want to buy it or anything. Just thought it was a cool looking boat.

I don't think it is worth more than 15k tops and that might even be pushing it. It sucks that the guy put as much effort and money into it thinking he might get a good chunk back though. It appears he did everything first class.

Really cool what he has done. Problem is it's really only worth it to him. I would never want a totally black boat. Especially interior all black like that. I live in Minnesota and have black interior in my new truck. Got in it the other day at sunny 75 and it was blazing. Thats with tinted windows and only 75 outside in May. That boat has got to be unbearable on a 95 degree summer day. To the right buyer who falls in love with what he has done 15K is tops. You can buy nice 89 prostars all day in the 7500-10K range. With something that customized you really limit the buyers. At that price I think he has 0 chance of selling. Its not going to be for alot of people, not going to be for anyone at that price.

10 grand

I'd give him 12 k and flip it for 13k

I think it would be worth 17, 18 or maybe even $20k for the right buyer. I would never buy it for that, but someone who wants a blacked out PS 190 might...

First degree burns everywhere! But what a hot looking boat!

Oil changed every 15 hours... Sheesh that would be about once a week on my boat

Cool looking boat, but its only worth about 13k. The bank will never loan a buyer what he wants for that.. That boat will not move at that price.

bcrider 05-09-2013 10:10 AM

Cool looking and all but at the end of the day it's a 89 prostar that the guy dumped way to much money in too and will never get back.

ttrigo 05-09-2013 10:15 AM

Is that a closed bow? Dont know much about the older MC's, but i would say that boat is unmovable at that price.

You can pour syrup on s-hit don't make it pancakes!

My first boat was a 1990 prostar 190. That boat puts out zero wake. You could load it up with as much ballast and lead as it would take, and the wake was the size of a speed bump. Why oh why would someone dump so much money trying to turn a skiboat that holds four people into a "hard core" wakeboat? I bought mine for 9,500 in 2002 with 145 hours on it, but a monster tower on it, cleaned it up, and sold it a year later for 11k. That was a DECADE ago.

boardman74 05-09-2013 11:35 AM

Train, that is a closed bow...One of the smallest interiors on the market. 2001 might have more interior room.

Chatt thats probably about what that thing is worth today. Guy is going to take a bath if he really has that into it. I don't see why someone would ever put that kind of cash into that boat for wake boarding.

He'd get much more out of it if he pulled the tower off of it, pulled the FAE off of it, sold those items, repaired the gel where the tower was mounted and sold it for what it is - a skiboat.

He would of been much better off reconditioning the stock gelcoat and putting in a new, stock interior. Anybody that is going to be looking for a real nice one of those is going to prefer a restored to new factory condition. Even then I am not sure the late 87-90 prostar is that sought after. I think the Stars and Stripes with fiberglass stringers, the 91-94 and the 95-97 are all more sought after.

On top of that he's going to have to find someone else willing to give up a garage spot for an older boat or someone who doesn't know much about boats because if you store that boat outside during the summer, even with a good cover, that black vinyl is only going to last one or two seasons. There's a reason that most boats have white vinyl with other colors used sparingly.
