Warren Buffet Thanks You

Good to know that the taxpayers' money went to a good cause http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-ticker/warren-buffett-thanks-the-government-for-all-those-bailouts-535622.html?tickers=brk-a,brk-b,wfc,xlf,^dji,^gspc,gs

My apologies for the misspelling--Buffett

psudy 11-18-2010 7:41 AM

You posted it. Show me how Buffet profited from government intervention. He was the one pumping 10 of billions in capital into companies. Usually at a 10% return. So I guess you could say he benefited because the economy didn't hit complete meltdown due to the intervention, but I don't buy the spin the article is trying to throw..

Wrong. Deficit spending is spending our CHILDREN's money not our money. It's like stealing from a baby.

Laker1234 11-18-2010 12:20 PM

Does this count as profit http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/1...medium=twitter

wake77 11-18-2010 12:29 PM

What exactly are you trying to say Ron? If Buffet was a conservative, would you have even posted this?

Laker1234 11-18-2010 12:38 PM

It all depends if he had prior knowledge of the bailout http://www.examiner.com/finance-exam...66e04c1860%2C0

psudy 11-18-2010 12:53 PM

Don't believe everything you read from some douchbag at the examiner. Buffet pumped 10B of his own money into GS to try and keep it afloat. When this transpired, TARP was already being talked about, but it was not clear how it would be rolled out.

Laker1234 11-18-2010 1:28 PM

Fair enough http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6358451.html

wake77 11-18-2010 5:11 PM

Was Buffett not a multi-billionaire before all of this transpired? The guy knows what he is doing when it comes to investments, but since he is not a conservative then he draws the criticism. If he was some Joe Schmo before TARP then call foul, but do you honestly think that TARP (which was implemented under Bush) was approved to make Buffett more money?

Laker1234 11-19-2010 6:29 AM

Yes, he is rich, so are the majority of Congress. No, it's ridiculous to think TARP was created to make Buffet money. However, I am happy to read that he appreciates the opportunity to have been a part of such a fair distribution of money among businesses and states.

To try and paint Warren Buffet as some greedy slimeball with the likes of politicians is just assinine. I'm honestly wondering if you're even serious with this thread? Do you know how much good that guy does for the world? He doesn't care about money, hell, he gives it all away to charity and will do so with like 99% of his total worth when he kicks it. The freakin guy lives in Nebraska of all places, and voluntarily at that.

Laker1234 11-19-2010 11:40 AM

I'm just answering questions. To me, the bailout money and stimulus monies were earmaked and a letter of this nature was just like rubbing "salt in a cut."

deltahoosier 11-19-2010 12:40 PM

I thought only republicans were rich anyway?

psudy 11-19-2010 12:43 PM

I think the letter was just saying thanks for not letting complete disaster happen. Buffet makes money in his sleep.
