Rash Guard - Do you wear one?
A buddy of mine wanted to buy a Rash Guard for wakeboarding to wear under his life jacket. I told him that Rash Guards are for surfers and that there is no need for one in wakeboarding. This got me thinking...

Does anyone out there wear a rash guard when they wakeboard? Answer Yes or No and why?

I think its a personal preference type of thing. Maybe he has tender nipples. LOL?

Really the only reason people were em is the extra layers for the water warmth, I honestly dont think it makes a difference haha so idk

I wear one because I am pale as hell and use it for sun protection but used it when I use to surf to keep from rubbing your nipples off.

I wear a heater shirt for warmth if it's cold. Many of the guys that I know who hydrofoil where them to help minimize the smack of the water on bad falls.

THEY MAKE YOU COLDER!!!! I only use one surfing to save the neeps! I would just get a heater top!

i wear a heater top during the winter... and a rash guard when its hot out.. it serves 2 purposes.. 1. i dont need to apply sunscreen.. and 2. it keeps me cooler when im out of the water.. and being in florida in the summer you want to be cool, its just too hot here..

They do! They work in summer to keep your skin cooler but so does a t-shirt. Get a heater top if its warmth he's after.

heater top

jtnz 06-10-2010 6:15 PM

I wear one, only have neoprene vests, tried without once and it wasn't nice. Nip rash is no good.

fly135 06-11-2010 7:45 AM

I sometimes use them for sun protection.

rbeckei 06-11-2010 8:41 AM

Where can you get a heater top?

cjh1669 06-11-2010 9:04 AM

Here is the one I have

baitkiller 06-11-2010 1:03 PM

My kids all wear them for sun protection and rash protection. They have to wear a PFD all day, add a little sand. Not comfy.

I use Bullfrog when riding and wear long sleeve T shirts whenever in the sun. I wear Xl shirts to breath. Melanoma sucks.

andy_nintzel 06-11-2010 2:21 PM

The House has tons of them!!!

cwb4me 06-11-2010 2:34 PM

Most wakeboarders i know wear them at the beginning of the season for warmth and sun protection.

Are people getting heater tops and rash guards confused here? Seems like it. Rash guards are really only used to keep from getting pit or neck rashes from your wetsuit or in a. Only time I used one with trunks is summer or in Hawaii because of sand sticking to the wax would chew up my stomach and chest. For protection from the sun makes sense though too.

ridemarktwain 06-11-2010 2:53 PM

Heck yes.
Its a great way to hide chest hair ..... or backny ....... lol. I like the feel of a shirt under my lifevest.

irishrider92 06-11-2010 3:56 PM

I used to wear one because my old vest had zipp off sleeves and the zipper chaffed really bad. I still wear it though, keeps me that bit warmer if its chilly

brycejb328 06-11-2010 4:42 PM

i wear a heater top, almost regardless of temp... i find it to be more comfortable
