I think Alabama will win, but I must go for Texas. (I lived there for about 3 years)

Predictions:

(Message edited by regalado1 on January 07, 2010)

hayes 01-07-2010 5:20 PM

Can't wait for the game! Roll Tide!

wakeriderixi 01-07-2010 5:36 PM

and the SEC takes it again.

regalado1 01-07-2010 6:01 PM

Not a good start by Alabama, but only down by 6 with 2 turnovers...they are dodging the big 6...And with McCoy out, there chances have to go up.

Should also mention that I know it is still very early.

And that is how fast games turn around. I'm looking for Alabama to start rolling. Especially with a backup QB on the opposition.

(Message edited by regalado1 on January 07, 2010)

bendow 01-07-2010 7:14 PM

the game doesn't count anymore...Colt's out.

I'm so pissed right now.

regalado1 01-07-2010 7:20 PM

Still a chance he'll come back in the second half. Might already be too late though.

fogey 01-07-2010 7:32 PM

"the game doesn't count anymore"

How does that work? Colt's injury is a bad deal, for sure, but I thought two football teams were playing for the championship. One player gets injured, and the game doesn't mean anything?

I don't think so. And I don't think you'd be saying that if it was Ingram who was injured.

regalado1 01-07-2010 7:36 PM

I wouldn't take it so literal. It's not the same as having both teams firing on all cylinders and the better team wins. I know what you are saying, but I get what benjamin is saying too.

bendow 01-07-2010 7:41 PM

Jeff...google Colt shoulder injury. It will tell you plain as day the game no longer counts for anything.

(Message edited by bendow on January 07, 2010)

magellan 01-07-2010 7:45 PM

Benjamin,
The game means the following:
Texas was a one man team. They lost their man. They'll be fourth behind FL and Boise State.
Sleep tight!

wakeriderixi 01-07-2010 7:47 PM

If you can't get hit by the big boys than you shouldn't be playing in the big game.

bendow 01-07-2010 7:52 PM

I was just kidding about the saying the game didn't count...BUT...when it's all said and done...Alabama wins, everyone will say "well Texas didn't have Colt" and take away from Alabama's win. I would rather see Alabama beat Texas with Colt in than beat a team with a severely inexperienced qb

magellan 01-07-2010 8:10 PM

getting interesting...
Personally, I'd love to see a true freshman QB take them to the promised land.

Ben, agreed on the comments if AL wins. There will always be an asterisk next to it. TX wins....not so much.

regalado1 01-07-2010 8:14 PM

Bit of a momentum shift at the end of the 3rd. We'll see how long it lasts.

depoint50ae 01-07-2010 8:18 PM

GO BIG XII!!!!!!

mcook77 01-07-2010 8:23 PM

Officials are SCREWING Texas hard in this one. No pass interference against AL and then to just call a BS pass interference against TX. Gimme a freaking break!!

Hate to guess....but the way the TX defense is playing - TX would be up if Colt was not hurt. But, TX still has a shot! Another 3rd down stop just now! Woo hoo

regalado1 01-07-2010 8:36 PM

Texas hanging in there. We have a ball game.

only down by 3 with a little over 6 min left.

(Message edited by regalado1 on January 07, 2010)

mcook77 01-07-2010 8:37 PM

FG game now!! Freshmen QB is really shining now that the play calling has opened up!

bendow 01-07-2010 8:37 PM

This is getting good! the young qb is finding a rhythm

regalado1 01-07-2010 8:38 PM

Up the Texas defense to stop them now and leave enough time on the clock.

alanp 01-07-2010 8:38 PM

bama needs to wake up and get aggressive with the offense. they are going to blow it to a freshman qb

behindtheboat 01-07-2010 8:40 PM

haven't ever like Texas, but how can you not like this Freshman! Stepping up

regalado1 01-07-2010 8:41 PM

Bama does have the running game to just run this thing out.

mcook77 01-07-2010 8:44 PM

Here we go - getting the ball back with 3 plus minutes to go and a chance to win the game. Stuffed Ingram a few times nicely!!

regalado1 01-07-2010 8:45 PM

Why on Earth would Texas take a timeout there? Beyond me.

mcook77 01-07-2010 8:48 PM

No idea...surprised me as well. Hope they dont need that on this final drive.

mcook77 01-07-2010 8:49 PM

QB never saw him....probably the game.

regalado1 01-07-2010 8:50 PM

yep

Hats off to the young freshmen for such a strong second half.

(Message edited by regalado1 on January 07, 2010)

depoint50ae 01-07-2010 8:50 PM

bad time for a turnover

mcook77 01-07-2010 8:52 PM

Not enough players on field during that last punt hence the timeout being called. Hold to a FG and still got hope.

regalado1 01-07-2010 8:53 PM

makes sense then for the timeout. I'd have to say very little hope, but hope nonetheless.

regalado1 01-07-2010 8:54 PM

Barring a miracle for Texas, that's it.

alanp 01-07-2010 8:55 PM

damnit i had 8 1/2 point with texas on a bet with a buddy. why couldnt they have held them to a field goal!!!

bendow 01-07-2010 8:55 PM

over

Texas has hotter cheerleaders

mcook77 01-07-2010 8:56 PM

Well crap.....great game especially without Colt. Terrible luck on that injury so early in the game.

wakeriderixi 01-07-2010 8:58 PM

Alabama played HORRIBLE against a hot backup QB.

regalado1 01-07-2010 9:00 PM

Wait...What...When you say hot what do you mean? ha ha just kidding.

hayes 01-07-2010 9:01 PM

ROLL TIDE....National Champions!!!!!

bendow 01-07-2010 9:06 PM

I'm just happy to see that Colt isn't crying while having a teammate massage his head

wakeriderixi 01-07-2010 9:16 PM

Hahah, Go GATORS!

bigjokerinthebox66 01-07-2010 10:14 PM

Texas still had a chance even with the back up. Played good defense in the second half and were making a comeback until that fumble.

ponte_06_x2 01-07-2010 10:30 PM

bama played one good quarter thinking they had it in the bag, but finished strong in the end. when your up by a good chunk at half you change the way you play. good game though.

dlwsrider 01-07-2010 11:19 PM

That really makes me wonder what Texas could of done WITH Colt. Too bad we wont find out. I see Texas finishing 3rd. The didn't get owned like Florida did even with the back-up quarter back.

bendow 01-08-2010 4:54 AM

I wouldn't be too thrilled with nearly getting beat by a team who's qb was born in 1991 and was playing highschool ball last year...

I like Ingram though. He's a stand up guy and not a thug like some of the other up and comers

eubanks01 01-08-2010 7:32 AM

Oh, I love all the excuses from the t.u. folks. What a great game it was! Roll Tide.

bendow 01-08-2010 8:16 AM

Eubanks! you're from Texas! come on man!

eubanks01 01-08-2010 8:24 AM

Yes, but I am true to Aggieland!

trace 01-08-2010 8:46 AM

Just like a bitter Aggie to root against Texas in any situation. I always root for teams from TX in big games, unless they're playing UT. The only team I can't root for is OU.

bflat53212 01-08-2010 8:50 AM

I thought the receivers from Texas blew this game. Way too many dropped passes in very crucial periods of time. Even lost a touch down from the freshman, who hit the receiver right in the hands. Very next play he threw an interception.

I think Albama was very fortunate to win. That being said, Albama was definitely affected by Ingram cramping up in the 2nd half.

eubanks01 01-08-2010 8:52 AM

Exactly. Your OU is my Texas. Bitter? Texas lost their chance at winning a national championship and you think I'm bitter? Oh quite the opposite my friend!

I just can't stand Texas fans plus them winning does nothing good for future Aggie recruiting. Why would I route for them? Because I live in Texas? I also live in Dallas so am I obligated to route for SMU?

tings00 01-08-2010 9:00 AM

Some info on Colt making the decision not to come back in the game, that had to be so tough:

Colt had just lied to the Texas doctors and said that he was capable of returning to the BCS title game against Alabama. A hit by the Tide’s Marcell Dareus, on the fifth play of the game, had sent him to this locker room. He wanted back out there. So he tried to sound convincing despite the fact his arm felt “like a noodle.”...

So Colt gripped the ball, stared at his dad and thought, “It’s just a simple throw.” He threw. The ball went soft and wide. Everyone grimaced. “Give it to me again,” Colt demanded. Brad got the ball and gave it back to his son. The next throw was the same, bouncing harmlessly away. “Give it to me again,” Colt said, again. Brad did.

It was the same. It was over. Colt couldn’t throw it 7 yards to his own father. “My arm was dead,” he said. The dad hugged his son. The son broke down and cried.

“There’s no pain on my body,” Colt said later. “If I was a free safety, I’d go out there and make a tackle. I [just] have no strength to throw a football.”

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=dw-texasqbs010810&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

jward10 01-08-2010 10:04 AM

Say all you want about Colt and his numb arm. Our QB was playing with cracked ribs. Nice job by the entire squad to keep that under wraps leading up to the game.
ROLL TIDE!!!

wakeriderixi 01-08-2010 10:07 AM

Alabama didn't show up for that game the way they did most of the season. So yes, Texas was without McCoy, but Texas didn't face a top 5 team in Bama lastnight either.

So in the end, all things given, the W went to the better overall team on the year. An arguement against those who want to "asterisk"the game or moan, "but Colt wasn't in the game."

No worries though, I know how you all feel. Eight games out of ten, Florida shows up and beats Alabama.

Therefore, I propose this as my hypothetical (making excuses) top 5:
1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. Boise State
4. Texas
5. BYU

tings00 01-08-2010 10:15 AM

why BYU in the top 5? I am from Utah and am of the BYU religion but would never rank them top 5 to end the year.

trace 01-08-2010 11:22 AM

Fair enough, Eubanks. Just don't understand all the hate that comes our way from such a close neighbor, especially when it goes largely unreciprocated. Inferiority complex, I guess.

eubanks01 01-08-2010 11:39 AM

when it goes largely unreciprocated. Inferiority complex, I guess.

Oh the irony! haha I just think Texas has the most arrogant fans out there and it was great to see them get theirs. I do like Colt though and definitely wish him the best. I don't think it is required of me as a Texan to route for Texas University.}

trace 01-08-2010 11:44 AM

I figured that's why you said you hated Texas fans, so I had to fill the bill.

pierce_bronkite 01-08-2010 12:11 PM

Did anybody get video of that "idiot" that security had to remove off the field? Was it some sort of streaker? They didn't show it up close by when they showed the entire bowl game zoomed out you could see someone scrambling around on the field.

tailgate 01-08-2010 12:30 PM

I just can't stand Texas fans

Jarret, I thought we were cool... I guess I'll have to take the sticker off my board to ride in your boat again...

eubanks01 01-08-2010 12:43 PM

Haha! You my friend are a rare, very rare, exception to the rule. You know I love you Bro.

wakeriderixi 01-08-2010 1:06 PM

Tings- You might be right about BYU. I don't know much about them but a Top 4 didn't sound right. They were kind of a ranked by association type deal. We can scratch them off.

deuce 01-08-2010 1:13 PM

BYU isn't top 10....

I really wish they were for the sake of the MWC and getting an AQ spot....but no way....

wakeriderixi 01-08-2010 1:14 PM

I would like to substitute my BYU pick at #5 for a unanimous Ohio State.
