hi,who prefers the boardshorts with the liner that goes from hip to knee and doesn't wrap around your leg at any point.or do you prefer the ones with the liner that stops at your crotch.i prefer the ones with the full hip to knee liner.if you prefer the full liner could you recommend a brand/model that is good.

andy13 02-18-2009 9:21 AM

all my boardshorts that ive ever had dont have any liner at all. they are just shorts

to_blind 02-18-2009 9:26 AM

boardshorts generally don't have liners.

02-18-2009 9:27 AM

jet pilot makes some.

andy_nintzel 02-18-2009 9:31 AM

no liner, what are you talking about, like a bathing suit for a little kid, with built in briefs?

mike3500 02-18-2009 9:32 AM

In my experience, only the white or very light colored boardshorts have liners, and I've only seen the full liner.

I'm a big fan of Hurley.

zach2orjack 02-18-2009 9:38 AM

O'Neill makes a board short with a liner that is sewed into the short. I'm still trying to find them in my size but they are sweet. It makes them a bit thicker and a lot more comfy. I have some quiks with a liner that just hangs like boxers.

splatman 02-18-2009 9:42 AM

I had some jetpilots that were linered, they called em "Rideshorts" though.

For just out riding, they were pretty sweet. But for hanging around on the boat all day... Not so much.

lfrider92 02-18-2009 9:46 AM

ive never had boardshorts with liners. i used to use ago, but they are extremely uncomfortable

eubanks01 02-18-2009 9:47 AM

So do none of the pros were any "protection" underneath. My greatest discovery is Under Armor because it is supportive and dries quickly!

I don't see how guys rock nothing under these thin board shorts. Maybe I fall too much, but the boys would be in for a rough day if I didn't have some something to minimize the "movement".

steezyshots 02-18-2009 9:48 AM

I HATE the Liners! I wont buy shorts with them!

andy_nintzel 02-18-2009 9:54 AM

Oh I get it. Like the Mesh liner that is connected to the shorts, same shape as the whole short. Yeah I hate those too, I cut the liners out usually. Makes the stay wet longer.

bill 02-18-2009 10:10 AM

the liners on the Hurleys are silky smooth and you cant tell they are there IMO ,they are a little neccessary as white shorts when wet may be a little revealing and riding with a bunch of dudes ,thats not cool..

its bad enough with all these riders on crack ,i dont want their junk staring at me either :P

andy_nintzel 02-18-2009 10:20 AM

is their junk staring at you or are you staring at their junk! Hahahah Kidding!

bill 02-18-2009 10:23 AM

hey taking video, pics, and watching the riders are normal, please no junk shots !

under armour is your friend! LOL

richsur 02-18-2009 10:46 AM

Ten-80s all the way.

clubjoe 02-18-2009 10:52 AM

Too much thinking for me.... I just pick the ones I like the looks of, and buy em if they fit....

wakemikey 02-18-2009 2:02 PM

WakeMikey - I don't really want to talk about your under garmets but try some Under Armor. It will change your life!

wake77 02-18-2009 2:21 PM

I go commando.......

Everyone should try it.

luke22885 02-18-2009 2:25 PM

I second the under armor under the boardshorts. I think that any of the oneil "freak" boardshorts are the most comfortable out there when riding

bcrider 02-18-2009 5:02 PM

Freeball all the way!!

bftskir 02-18-2009 5:23 PM

I wear a cup

wakerider111 02-18-2009 9:20 PM

biker-shorts (nice padded crotch area) under my liner-less board shorts

nuckledragger 02-19-2009 7:02 AM

Avoid the swamp a$$- no liner...ever.

vrider202 02-19-2009 4:06 PM

O'Neill Mens Surf Boxer. You can buy them at Barts and not have your crack showing.

spinner_x 02-19-2009 9:58 PM

Commando. ftw

hco 02-20-2009 1:10 PM

Boardshorts and some nice quick dry water specific boxers are where its at. The jet pilot crown jewel ride short has a neoprene/wetsuit-esque liner. Very comfortable but your nuts would sweat themselves off on a hot day. I think it might be designed for surfing in kind of colder waters but not too cold (at least that is how I interpreted their use).

mbsteez 02-20-2009 3:48 PM

hey, did you guys hear about this new thing called "the internet?"

its the lining in your shorts...

ferral 02-20-2009 9:10 PM

Under armour for the white boardshorts, otherwise its commando all the way.

norcalbordr 02-20-2009 10:13 PM

No liner, no boxer briefs under the shorts, just free ballin. Thats the way it should be

warwagon 02-20-2009 11:34 PM

Just like ARNOLD commando for me!

liquidmx 02-21-2009 9:26 AM

Steve I believe its: "You mean like the interneting in my shorts?"

I hate any sort of netting in shorts, but do wear .5mm compression shorts underneath my riding shorts for support and a little bit of protection from ball slap.

bfnaci 02-21-2009 7:20 PM

I have always been a netless, boxerless freeballer myself, but have often questioned that when I stradle the peak of the wake on a fall. I have had to actually check to see if the boys were still there. Thought they came off and sunk to the bottom of the lake.
