Say I was looking to replace my trailer rims, nothing to bling-bling, do they have to be trailer specific or could I use normal car tire rims?

they don't need to be trailer specific, but they will need to have the same offset and bolt pattern. Take your trailer to you local tire shop and they should be able to hook you up....

so mine are a 5 lug 14 inch, so thats all I need to look for?

Kenny,

What brand of trailer do you have?

ghostrider_2 07-04-2008 10:41 AM

I believe they are called sports boats, or atleast that is what the tag say. It really is the same basic trailer that comes with the sanger.

There are probably 30 different 5 lug sizings and probably about the same different offsets. Get in touch with the trailer manufacturer or take a rim into the local tire shop and they'll be able to tell you exactly what size wheel you'll need. Example: on my truck I have a 20"x8" wheel with a 5x5" bolt pattern and a +0 offset.

-Steve

Kenny,

The wheels on all of the trailers are pretty much the same. They are 5 on 4 1/2 with zero offset meaning 5 lug with the bolt pattern being on 4 1/2 inch center and the wheel offset doesn't push the tire to the outside or the inside. I have a Boat Mate trailer that I changed the steel chrome wheels to Centerline wheels 18" Edge wheel with a +12mm offset. I'll post a few pic's as soon as I can.

Are you wanting to change the size wheels and tires or are you just looking to change the wheels?

off topic here. seeing that you have a sport boat trailer you might want to keep an eye on the welds between the bunks and the actual trailer support . we just had a few of ours break and had to have them re-welded.

alright back to the topic

whelan thanks for the heads up.

Hanger, Just looking to change the rims to a nicer set, nothing too fancy.

jpuckett 07-04-2008 7:53 PM

ghostrider_2 07-06-2008 11:05 PM
