well I think I found my answer here.

http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/150339.html

someone spoke with Indmar and they were told to bypass all the original alt wiring and ran a new wire past the breaker and to the starter, not the battery like I was thinking.

just thought of another thing.

If I later add an isolator for a dual battery setup where does the alt. wire need to come from that connects to that ?

Clint - it depends how big your stock wires are. You will need 4ga or bigger to get enough current to your battery and accessories but if your batteries are more than a few feet away you will need to increase the wire size to 0 or 2 ott. There should be a circuit breaker in your engine compartment that will need to be upgraded as well.

http://bluesea.com/viewresource/535
