so i blew my sub this past weekend so i'm in the market for a new one. I'll pushing the new sub w/ the kicker zx1000.1 amp. I was looking into some of the near 1000watt rms subs and think the Alpine Type X might be a nice fit. Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

What about one of these?

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6513_Kicker+06CVX124+CompVX+Series.html

nu bu that was my other choice but from a spec's perspective, the alpine looked better. Do you or anyone else here ever heard either of these subs??

I've never heard one of these steve, but these are supposed to be the round version of the L7 and I've heard lots of those and they pound. You could always get 2 and run them off your amp .

CVX's are good, but really are not worth the money. Kicker fell short on them as compared the L7 and there original Solo Barics. The Type X is a good sub, should give you a nice clean sound. Check out the MTX 9500. That would be a better way to go IMO.

I've got a Alpine Type R in my car and it pounds.

so it sounds like no one has had any experience or heard the Type X model. i ended up purchasing the Kicker CVX 12 4Ohm DVC, but i'm actually somewhat regreting it. I guess i'll give it a try.

That MTX 9500 looks like a beast!!! a lil more $$$ than i want to spend right now though!!!

how does teh cvx compare to the JL w6?

suprasteve 05-05-2008 5:25 PM

the JL 12W6v2-D4 is rated at 400w RMS and the Kicker CVX124 is rated at 750w RMS.

all the stereo guru's on here and no one has or heard the Type X subs from Alpine?

hatepain 05-06-2008 10:09 AM

Most people don't think Alpine first when they think of subs so they likely go with the more typical producers.

There is a big write up in Feb08 addition of Car Audio that compared a Alpine swx-1243D with the RF P3 12 and a Morel ultimo 12. The Alpine finished 2nd but the artical had nice things to say about the sound and performance.

Aqua

I have heard the Type X subs. Alpine makes some great subs with the Type R and Type X. Both produce a good clean sound. I have fun Type R's in my trucks and boat. Have had buddies who have run the Type X. Type X hits harder and sounds cleaner.
