What is the name of this grab. I've heard it called Canadien Bacon. Is that correct?

Rider - Jordan Patterson

This might sound crazy but my friend Michael did it in a competition and they told him he could name it and he named it the goat grab that was about three years ago. It would be awesome if it was named that because he is a good friend of mine and it would be rad if he named a trick.

kristian 07-25-2004 12:31 AM

Its a mosquito(sp) grab.

w4k3b04rd3r19 07-25-2004 12:37 AM

I don't know I remember someone doing that in the x-games once for snowboarding. You might want to look into that or skatingboarding.

wakechick 07-25-2004 1:16 PM

Isn't that a Chicken Salad grab?

jnewcom 07-25-2004 2:39 PM

I thought it was a canadian bacon too, but not 100% sure.

phaturn 07-25-2004 2:51 PM

maybe a Chicken Salad grab with goat bacon made in Canada?????

wakebordr11 07-25-2004 6:46 PM

Ive heard chicken salad
and thats what my friend dubbed it 2 years ago when he did it and someone verified his random dubbing, chicken salad and its a contorsionists grab...

eccpaint 07-25-2004 6:52 PM

You guys are making me hungry! I am surprised that there hasn't been a definative answer yet.

2 Canadien Bacon
2 Chicken Salad
1 Goat grab
1 Mosquito

Bonnie - Congrats on your name change! When are you coming back up to NC?

dococ 07-25-2004 7:31 PM

I submit another vote for chicken salad, at least that's what they were calling them back in the day. Don't bother looking to skateboard terminology to help you with that one.

dococ 07-25-2004 7:38 PM

Dude, if you're that limber, go ahead and try to figure out the crail and/or nuclear grabs, both impressive grabs, and thus avoiding any food-related connotations. Or if you are dead set on sticking with the food groups, learn your roastbeef grab on a toeside jump, that one can look pretty good if boned out and held.

powerchordkid87 07-25-2004 9:07 PM

I'm pretty sure that that's a canadian bacon. chicken salad is something with the back hand grabbing heelside somewhere. mosquito is a grab with the front hand.

wakechick 07-26-2004 7:58 AM

Thanks Greg! Not sure when I'll be back up that way, but when I am I will give you a shout!

I am sticking with Chicken Salad. I remember Leslie Kent doing them and she's got such long arms - she made them look like a piece of cake! I've never been able to do one

griffdizzle 07-26-2004 8:32 AM

It is not a chicken salad, a chicken salad is very similar to a roast beef except the arm is twisted with the thumb pointing the other way. That grab might be a canadian bacon or perhaps a tai pan? i've heard that before too. But its not a chicken salad

mango 07-26-2004 8:45 AM

that is a non tweaked out canadian bacon

flashalexb 07-26-2004 8:46 AM

yea its a canadian bacon same as in skateboarding

evil_e 07-26-2004 9:25 AM

When did this turn into the cooking forum? Canadian bacon, chicken salad, roast beef...Dude, I hit the sickest asian noodle salad into a wonton soup last night! Still trying to land the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon, so close!

wakestar8878 07-26-2004 10:25 AM

I would've said Tai Pan, but I'd probably be wrong.

mango 07-26-2004 10:39 AM

i landed a sick McWingWang Pork-Fried Chicken with a tweaked out Mango Salsa Grab the other day.

thane_dogg 07-26-2004 11:03 AM

it's called a stupid grab.

mango 07-26-2004 11:05 AM

It sure is stupid, why not just grab your ass or your balls next time

dococ 07-26-2004 11:19 AM

Come on guys, we were trying not to go there. Leave it to the Monday morning crew.

Yet another post runs its course by eventually regressing to the lowest common denominator...
(sigh)

thane_dogg 07-26-2004 11:21 AM

the monday morning crew? that's amusing. work sucked this morning, I've got a case of the mondays. sorry.

wakeguru 07-26-2004 11:55 AM

Man, I believe you'd get your a$$ kicked for saying something like that.

byerly137pro 07-26-2004 2:39 PM

That trick is clearly and Indy......jks. Where I'm from everyone calls that a Canadian Bacon, I do it all the time on my snowboard but yet have done it on a wakeboard.

wakehype 07-26-2004 2:40 PM

Dunno, but nice reach

easyrider 07-26-2004 3:57 PM

David: classic, thanks for that!

sunsport 07-26-2004 4:09 PM

I think a chicken salad sounds good right now but from what I know it is with the back hand between the legs, back edge of the board between the legs. Not sure if the elbow is facing forward or back, one is a roast beef, the other a chicken salad.

Mango, we call that grab a brain grab and usually do it for tubers or jetskiers. It is kind of entertaining to do with a tantrum.

guido 07-26-2004 4:21 PM

It looks kinda lame...Why not just go for a big fashion air next time. Or, like mango said, you could always do a nut grab.

malibuboarder75 07-26-2004 5:18 PM

not an MJ grab (michael jackson grab)
