Hi Guys went for a backroll last night and every time I started to get off axis I would automatically drop the handle. It was like I didn't even have any control over whether I dropped it or not.
Is this just a lack of kahunas or what

kristian 03-11-2004 11:37 AM

Duct Tape!

bradzass 03-11-2004 11:47 AM

Just gotta get it in your head even when your cutting out and planning it that no matter what happens your not letting go of that handle..

powdrhound 03-11-2004 11:51 AM

Duct tape might be the go cause I was saying no matter what I'm not letting go and I was holding the handle tight as hell but as soon as I got sideways I'd just drop it. Its pissing me right off

bradzass 03-11-2004 12:06 PM

I'd be careful if you're going to use duct tape.. don't wanna be stuck to the handle!!

kristian 03-11-2004 12:08 PM

It's only a joke, who in their right mind would tape themselves to a handle

bradzass 03-11-2004 12:17 PM

Just figured you were a crazy b*st*rd or something!!

kristian 03-11-2004 2:15 PM

yeah, I get that sometimes.

powdrhound 03-11-2004 2:18 PM

Dude if I don't get past this mentally I'm pullin out the duct tape or seeing if I can find some suicide gloves that swervers used to use. I am a crazy b*st*rd when the need calls for it

kristian 03-11-2004 2:21 PM

Get some of those super-grip-never-let-go slalom gloves first, we'll move up to the duct tape from there shall we.
next time you try it, think of one thing and one thing only. HOLD ON TO THE DAM HANDLE!

bradzass 03-11-2004 2:29 PM

just put one piece from your knuckles to your wrist, you won't be able to release, but if you stuff it, the force of the boat will rip it off, thats if you really want to do it..

samcdog 03-11-2004 2:29 PM

Maybe lightly tape your hand with masking tape or something so it will break loose prior to your arm coming off.

Also, what kind of question is this? How are we supposed to tell you how to not let go of the rope? I got it DONT LET GO OF THE HANDLE

bradzass 03-11-2004 2:35 PM

I know what it means, I do it sometimes too, its all in your head, its the most frustrating thing when you land something sweet but the rope isn't in your hand

I have a problem with keeping the handle too, but I drop mine because sometimes when I rotate, I end up going away from the boat, which makes it impossible for me to keep it. I have a problem with standing tall and keeping the handle in.

biwwy 03-12-2004 10:59 AM

I wouldn't suggest this, but if you really wanted to duct tape yourself to the handle you could always use a trick release and a spotter. I think I would actually pay money to watch that.

Going off axis typically is because you have too much weight on your back foot. This causes the board to rotate away from the boat. Remember, your body position, when you leave the top of the wake, is how you'll land.

bradzass 03-12-2004 1:04 PM

the more and more you practice them and get the roation right the easier it will get to hold on..

thane_dogg 03-12-2004 1:14 PM

forget duct tape, releases too easily, use handcuffs.

doubleup 03-12-2004 2:16 PM

let go with your front hand... Roll to revert!
