I'd make a shorter up and down if your going to make it that long. depending on how high off the water it is

bendow 08-09-2006 7:45 PM

thats going to be hard to ride across the whole thing. you'll find yourself getting pulled off about half way through

hope its not your first slider you have built and i really hope its not the first one you have ever hit. 80 ft is doable but you should go up-flat-up-flat-down. A 65 foot dragon would be my first choice. that is up-flat-up. Post some pics if you start building it. Props to you for taking the initiative. It makes the sport better for everyone you let use it.

lukeh 08-10-2006 8:17 PM

Mike I agree with you...however think about your first statement "up-flat-up-flat-down" if you hit it toeside in my case (front lip) then my up-flat-down-flat-down becomes your "up-flat-up-flat-down". Anyway I'm pretty pumped to get it built. we got 5 of the 11 supports planted in tonight. Going in to pick up the trex tommorow!! And no this is not the first slider we've built or hit. I've hit 60-65 footers and the slide felt good, however we just want a little bit more. DJ the reason the dimensions are so long is we want it to be more mellow than super tech. the highest point on it is 4.5'.

lukeh 08-12-2006 6:17 PM

so today we got all of our posts in and got the main frame 2x6's on. tommorow we just need to put up the transitions and put our 2x10 as well as our trex on. heres some pics from this evening

otiswunguy 08-12-2006 7:19 PM

thats only 56'. still looks really fun though.

midwesty 08-12-2006 8:12 PM

looks dangerous as hell to me

lukeh 08-13-2006 8:46 AM

mike your right it's 56' but we still have to put on our 16' up and 12' down which totals 76'

blake_hughes 08-13-2006 10:33 AM

Are you planning on using more than those 2x4's to support that thing?

We built a 30' slider, and doubled-up 2x6's, for the legs... I think that'd be a much safer way to go. Or, atleast double-up those 2x4's.

-Blake

lukeh 08-13-2006 6:27 PM

the supports that are planted into the ground are 4x4's....2 2x4's nailed together. finished the entire frame today...tommorow were taking back our 2x10, and replacing it with 2x12 for the top. heres some pics from today. the posts are all cut level now...it was to dark to take pics.

chocobeat 08-13-2006 6:35 PM

looks real good man

yosquire 08-13-2006 9:45 PM

andy_nintzel 08-14-2006 6:16 AM
