Gas Prices Up, Up, and Away
And I thought prices were high in the US, http://www.bloomberg.com/slideshow/2...y.html#slide62

Why do you think there are so many cable parks in Europe?

In most countries with high gas prices it's all taxes to support their socialist welfare state. Similar deal with most of the states here that have high gas prices.

Some states use tolls (not counting bridges) rather than gasoline taxes to raise money for roads and highways. That should be taken into account when looking at gas and overall road vehicle transportation costs. Personally, I'd much rather pay through gas taxes vs tolls that require multiple stops and cause a great deal of traffic. It'd be great to see a map that shows those states with tolls and somehow incorporates those costs with gas taxes to come up with a more comparable number. I always thought it was a huge unnecessary pain when traveling on the east coast to have to stop at multiple toll booths.

Interestingly enough FL has some of the highest gas taxes yet as I recall has a tremendous number of tolls.

I saw on the news that LA has $5 a gallon gas in places. That's got to hurt.

All we need to do to get gas prices back down again is to bury the economy so badly that noone can afford to pay more than a 1.80 anymore. Of course you eventually may not be able to afford anything to put the gas in anymore either. You have to decide if you'd like a big income with high gas prices or low gas prices with a tiny income. There are a couple of other options but most of the people who complain about gas prices hate those options more than they hate high gas prices.
