Looking to move there.. What does a nice small home go for off water (water access)? 1200-1500sq ft.
Are there many rentals?
Does the lake suck to ride in unless you wake up at 5am?

Better there, or Temecula?

Sorry for all the questions... I couldn't find the realtor site realtorworld.com?

you could move to temecula, buy a nice house a little cheaper, then use the extra money to get a membership at vail lake. oops I've said too much.

I am not too sure about what the houses are going for, the best thing to do is to visit, and pick up a Friday Flyer. (the local newspaper) I know that we have lived here since 91 and I wouldn't live anywhere else. We are on the water everyday right now (training for Orlando VTC) Check it out and if I can answer any questions feel free to ask. HTH!

I saw a 1200 SF condo on the water going for $275,000 in an area called Treasure Island, they have a dock but it is not in front of your place, houses close to 2000 sf seem to be in the $500,000 plus range on the water with a dock etc. There is a lot of houses for sale now, probably people taking advantage of the run up in the market to upgrade to a larger place, I have seen some on the market for over a month to two months. So they might be dealing some. It seems the owners are having trouble picking a price point to ask for, so they error on the high side and then go down. There are a lot of variables to look for so get a good agent who knows the area. There are a couple of realty places online that you can pull houses in Canyon Lake from the MLS' on. Try that to start. erealty.com, ziprealty.com etc.

(Message edited by rock_n_boardin on September 22, 2003)

Boobsarecool, There was a house right around the corner from me that is exactly what you described and it sold for I think $296,000 or close to that. Temecula is not really much cheaper but is a very nice place. I have been to Vail Lake but was unaware you could ride there. It seemed like a small lake, but I just went camping there and did not really pay to much attention to the lake.

After doing a quick search on the MLS I found 18 homes from a price range of 260,000 - 350,000.

As far as riding on the main lake, it can get crowded on the weekends but sometimes it's not bad. If you can go during the week it is great, I get home from work early so we go during the week often. You can also ride in the back where the water is usually always nice because only two boats can go at one time, but if there are a lot of boats back there your wait times could be long.

Also I am really good friends with a realator in Canyon Lake, if you would like to have her show you around the lake let me know.
