I currently have a '04 SunTracker Party Deck 21' (220HP). The boat throws a pretty good wake (deep V hull) with enough weight and a proper trim (5-9 people). I have a regular ski pylon which makes the tow point about 4' above the water. I cannot put a tower on this boat because of the aluminum hull. I'm considering trading this boat for a 1996 MC Maristar 200VRS with the Corvette LT1 engine (319HP) and putting a tower on it. <BR> <BR>Tow questions. Does the Maristar have a nice wake (loaded or not)? Will the tow point make much difference (another 3')? <BR> <BR>I really like my deck boat and need help determining if this would be a good move. My son is into wakeboarding and is at the intermediate level, so progressing here is the main concern.

the 20 foot maristar question has been brought up before with no real answer. my local dealer has one and I'm thinking of taking it out just to see. I think the 23 foot maristar puts out a decent wake, but never heard of/seen anything behind the 20 footer... surely someone has sacked out this boat before

Allen, the only thing I can recommend is to test the boat out. Take your son and see if he like the wake. Another question to ask yourself, could you get a proven wake for similar money? Something like a 1996+ MC 205, Super Sport, Launch?

Assuming the wake is sufficient, the other three advantages I can see over my deck boat are ability to put on a tower, more horsepower (319 vs. 220), and an inboard engine (compared to an I/O). I have been told by a couple of dealers that the aluminum could fold/buckle under the stress from the tower. <BR> <BR>So, given the wake is sufficient, would the tower (3'- 4' higher tow point), additional horsepower, and an inboard engine be any better than what I have for wakeboarding? <BR> <BR>There has to be some advantage or why else spend the big bucks on a "wakeboard" boat? <BR> <BR>Thanks.

we ride behind a 03 maristar...i think 21' or so <BR> <BR>it puts out a very nice wake with 1300-1500 lbs
