I tried searching for this unsuccessfully...I only found references to Tsunamis being used with big manifolds.... <BR> <BR>Anybody know off hand if the Tsunami pump is a direct replacement for the standard threads found on like a Rule 1100 GPH pump? For example, on my VLX, can the Tsunami be threaded into the thru-hull fitting in my ski locker where there is currently a stock Rule pump? <BR> <BR>Thanks, <BR> <BR>Danny

On that 1200 both the inlet and outlet side are the same size. It comes packaged with an attachment for outlet side that has threads on one side and barbed on the other. The barb will accept 1"ID tubing but its a tight fit so I doubt you could go any smaller. The actual threads coming out both sides are an oddball size and I could not find reducers anywhere that would fit with any true seal. Since I couldnt find anywhere to buy more of the thread to barb and they only give you one per pump, my solution to use this flow monster on 1# ID tubing: Buy a short length of 1.25" ID hose that will slide over the Tsunami threads and leave about 1.25" excess on the end. Then cut a short piece of 3/4" white pcv (about 1.25" length)that can be pushed into the 1" ID hose and then slide that up into the 1.25" ID hose coming off the Tsunami. Use one hose clamp where the tubing is on the Tsunami threads and the other where the larger tubing, smaller tubing and PVC are layered (This is why you have the pvc in there, as something support the clamp). I used hot water to soften the hose for each step which made it easy to manipulate. Its a lot of steps and maybe someone has found the actual threaded reducers since I did it, but these pumps move a lot of water fast so its worth it...

The Tsunami is made by Attwood. Go find the 800GPH Tsunami, because they have 3/4" threading on them. WAY easier then getting all the other crap. I got fed up with mine and just got a new pump. I paid 29.99 for the pump at Bass Pro online. Good luck.

Yup, McGyver-ing can drive you nuts(!) As for your fitting mating with the Rule I can say they look really similar (Tsunamis less than 1200gph and Rule)but I think the thread pattern might be slightly different. I thought I saw a post once where someone said a benefit of the rule was ability to use standard 3/4" fittings but cannot find it now. Time for trial and error... aka buy it and try it and keep that receipt!
