I looked for the video for a while but a year or more ago I saw the ultimate winch for tubing! I would think it would be easily adapted to anything else.

List of steps from my point of view:
1. Back truck up to spot you'd like to winch
2. jack up truck, remove tire
3. wind rope around wheel/rim
4. tie to tube
5. put in drive and hit the gas!

That tube was going at least 40! it was insane, scary and dangerous! Looked fun

I did alot of research and found plans to make one. I eer eded up doig it. heres some links that might be helpful

http://www.bulletlines.com/servlet/the-Wakeboard-Winches/Categories

I have more links but cantseem to find them. just look aroud on the net. Essentially its just a frame, spool, i think about a 6.5 hp motor, and a torque-a-verter, and some gears (bike sprockets work) optional brake on the spool. Pretty simple.

Here is what you need to build a winch.. Of course you also need a frame and spool.. The engine brand also doesnt matter..

1. Briggs and stratton (at least 6.5HP) probably around 300 USD
2. Torq-a-verter brand CVT cover and transmission... around 180 USD
3. driven sprocket (i dunno how many teeth that sprocket is but you can use anywhere from 56 to 72 tooth sprocket with a 7 to 8 inch spool... about 30 USD
4. looks to be about 10ft of chain... #35 pitch chain is preferred but #41 will work as well approx 15 USD
5. Belt for the CVT comes with #2
6. hitch pin for transporting winch using the hitch of a car
7. pillow block bearings, holds shaft onto the frame... approx 30 USD
8. Gocart axle... 30 in long, cut to fit your frame... approx 30 USD
9. ibolt can be used for rope guidance 2 USD
10. Fairlead rollers for rope guidance onto the spool 10 USD

Ken Land
Bullet Lines
www.bulletlines.com
www.wakeboarding-winch.com
